Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1979 Ford Ranchero GT Brougham. 150,000 miles. 351W 2 barrel engine,FMX automatic transmission, power steering, power front disc brakes, tilt steering wheel, factory cruise control, air conditioning,AM-FM stereo 8 track radio. No major mechanical issues. The engine runs well, but is due for an oil change and most likely a tune-up. The transmission works well in all forward gears and reverse. No rear end noise. The brakes work well. Outside: the paint color is dark orange. There are various shades of color due to sun-fading and previous paint work. The passenger side needs body work. There is a dent and crease below the GT portion of the side tape. The right rear wheel well is damaged and has had previous repair(body filler). The passenger door has a crease and the passenger front wheel well is creased on both sides of the opening. The driver's side is very straight. The roof has four or five small creases on the driver side left front corner. The hood is vey straight. The tail gate has a couple of dings and a small dent above the letter R. The area just to the right of the driver tail light is pushed in slightly. The area just to the left of the passenger tail light has a ding. The tail gate opens and closes well. The inside of the bed is in very good condition. This vehicle sat under a carport for the last twenty years or so,and had a canopy on it. The lower section of the driver tail light is broken, but none of the lense has fallen out. BOTH front turn signal lenses/corner lights are in very good condition,no cracks. The front bumper filler is wrinkled on the driver's corner. Both bumpers are fair/serviceable,but would need straightened and re-chromed for a complete restoration. All of the gass is good. The windshield has a very slight wiper scuff on the passenger side. Both side windows have scratches from the weather stripping. The driver outside mirror has a broken cable,so the mirror itself will not adjust. Interior: the driver seat needs re-upolstered. The headliner is good except two seams on the far right side, one about an inch long where the headliner meets the inside upper window moulding and the other directly below the upper seat belt mount. The carpet is fair, and has a section missing below the parking brake pedal. The dash pad has some cracks. The spare tire/storage cover is in good condition. Both screws that attach the window crank handles have broken off inside,so they would need to be drlled out. The windows roll up/down fine, just the handles cannot be screwed on. Engine: the only engine issue I am aware of is a rear main seal leak. I recently purchsed this car,and drove it home about 70 miles on the freeway with no problems. This vehice may be able to make a cross-country trip, but it has not been safety-checked. Functions: all of the lights and signals work, even the back-up lights. The A/C is still hooked-up,but most likely would need serviced and changed to R-134. The windshield wipers work, but do not 'park' correctly. They do not fully disappear like they are supposed to,and will stop mid sweep if the switch is turned off when they are not near the bottom of the windshield. The windshield washer does not work. The speedometer, temp. gauge and oil pressure gauge work correctly. The tachometer and clock do not work. The fuel gauge always reads full. The amp gauge seems to work, and a second after-market amp gauge has been added under the passenger side of the dash. The factory AM-FM 8 track radio works and plays tapes. One of the two horns works. The tires are a matched set of General Touring A/S with good tread. The spare tire is fair, and may or may not hold air. The bumper jack is complete with all pieces. The car does not have the original steel wheels. It has after-market white spoke wheels under the factory wire wheelcovers. The spare tire has a steel wheel. Recent exhaust from the 'Y' back. Rust: the only rust of any significance is a small amount under the driver seat and for some odd reason, the driver side wiper arm. This car appears to have spent it's life in Oregon. Oregon does not use salt on the roads. There is a spot of surface rust on the lower passenger quarter panel where the exhaust pipe exits. There is paint wear on the body and tail gate from the canopy. The chrome trim on top of the bed has some small spots that can be somewhat scraped off with your thumbnail. The spots may be able to be polished out. The driver's outside mirror has been replaced(blue paint underneath). Both outside mirrors have been repainted, and do not match exactly. The vehicle has a clear Oregon title, however Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp. forgot to sign off years ago. There is a notorized statement of fact from Nissan releasing their interest. The registration is expired. A $50 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction end. The vehicle needs to be picked up within two weeks of auction end, unless other arrangements are made.
