Vehicle Detail
READ BEFORE BIDDING I bought this Classic Cruiser a while back with the intentions to fix her up and have a fun weekend / camping car for the family. But I have only had enough time lately to drive it around the neighborhood about every other weekend, but besides that she has sat in our garage untouched. THE GOOD: The story on this Cruiser is it has 143,000 miles on it, it spend most of it's life in the Austin, TX area, everything is original, A/C blows cold, transfer case shifts into L4 fine, but the H4 button doesn't light up, seats are in very good condition, driver side seat has the standard crack in the leather along the sidewall that all the classic FJ's have. Tires were purchased in January probably have only 2,000 miles on them. The car is 23 years old, but over all the paint is in good condition, there are a few "cowboy pin striping" marks on both side due to driving through some brush in Junction, TX that a good buffing would probably polish out. The car has very little rust on it, there is only three small spots (see pictures). There are two small dents about the size of the palm of your hand, one is on the roof and the other is on the passenger side front fender. Windshield doesn't have any cracks and the dashboard does not have any cracks. Everything electrical works, windows, mirrors, door locks, lights, windshield wipers etc. Transmission shifts fine. THE PROBLEMS: The guy that had it before me let it over heat instead of parking it one time and after that the engine developed a light tapping noise in cylinder #2. My mechanic thinks it's a wrist pin oppose to a rod knock because it's a light quick tapping noise opposed to that deep knock that a bad rod makes. But he can't confirm what it is unless you pull the engine. The car has lots of power and still runs very strong. My mechanic said he would still drive it around but wouldn't do a trip from Houston to California in it until you get that fixed. It also has a few small oil leaks. Both front axle seals are leaking but I have already purchased the replacement seal kit which cost over $200 but I just haven't had time to install them, but the kit will be included with the sell of the car. The main oil pressure gauge doesn't work on the dash, so there is an aftermarket one installed under the dash by the gear shifter. The bar that connects the head nights and the turn signal to the steering column broke but the head lights and the turn signal still work (you just have to use the remaining part of the bar in the steering column to get the turn signal on.) Stereo antenna is electric and goes up and down but stops half way. If you Google best axle seals for FJ62 you will see the Marlin Crawler front axle service seal kit is the best kit on the market and cost over $200. As I mentioned earlier, I purchased that kit but haven't had time to put them in. So they are going with the new owner. I also have the very rare and impossible to find 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser Manual that is issued to the Toyota Dealship Mechanic's and tells you how to fix every time on this car in great detail and I've only seen one listed in the last year. This classic Cruiser can really turn out to be a show piece if you have the time to work out the few issues. I've seen them go from $9,000 to $15,000 when there fixed up. The tires, axle seals, and repair manual combined were over $1,500 alone. Regarding the final sell, it will not leave my driveway until money is in my bank account. Title is a Texas title and is clear. I will have it for sell locally so I have the right to cancel the auction at anytime. Sell is final, no warranty expressed or implied, as is where is. Shipping is your expense.
