Vehicle Detail
Offered as is for repair, restoration or parts is this 1992 Ford Tempo GL 4 door sedan. 2.3L 4 cylinder engine, automatic transmission. This was one of my daily drivers until very recently when it would not start. When the ignition key is turned, I do not hear the fuel pump kick on. The engine cranks when trying to start it but will not fire up. I've owned this car for about 4 years. I have other vehicles so it's time for something to go. The engine does not burn oil, the transmission is fine, a rebuilt starter was installed last year. The odometer reads 151,334 miles. The speedometer does not work. The actual miles are unknown but are more than likely around 153,000. The body, in my opinion, is in very nice condition. It has minimal rust. There are some paint fading/blemishes on the roof and the trunk lid which can be seen in the photos. There is a small dent in the driver's side front fender and a few other dings here and there. The back bumper cover has scratches and the front bumper cover has a crack. All of the signals and lights work, the cruise control works, the heater/defroster works. Vehicle is located in Kankakee, Illinois, about 60 miles south of Chicago. It is in a residential area about 2 miles off of Interstate 57. The following list states what known repairs this vehicle needs to be in basic, safe service: Either the fuel pump needs to be replaced or it may be an electrical relay issue. Windshield needs to be replaced, it has a crack on the driver's side. Rear brake lines and wheel cylinders need replacing. I have to add brake fluid frequently. Oil pan needs replaced or further repaired. It has a tiny hole towards the bottom front which I've patched with J-B Weld, which did help but it still leaks a little oil. The harmonic balancer will eventually need to be replaced. I've been informed that this was a notorious problem for this particular engine model from Ford. Passenger side mirror is missing. The housing is there but the glass mirror is not. Other noted defects are as follows: The front passenger power window does not operate. The electric motor does run but it does not lower the window. The power door locks do not work and I cannot manually lock the doors. The inside trunk release button (which is in the glove compartment), does not work. The headliner is tattered. The original radiator plastic overflow tank has a hole in it and needs replacing. The stock in-dash AM/FM/cassette radio was removed by the previous owner. I never bothered reinstalling it but it is included with all the original wiring connectors and housing bracket. Speedometer does not work. Air conditioner needs recharged. This vehicle could be cost-effectively put back into regular, daily service. Any questions are welcome.
