Vehicle Detail
Attention, Alfa lovers, It's still summer out there. There is still plenty of time to enjoy the top down with wonderful Italian overhead cam engine winding up and waiting for the next shift as you power thru your favorite twisty curves. Here is the car you have been looking for if you want a car that is finished and ready to just hop into and drive. All of the important parts are new or rebuilt, the paint is that powerful bright red Italian trademark complemented with new black Italian vinyl to match the original upholstery. I know what youre probably thinking, wouldn't it be nice to have the red piping on the seats and I agree, its cute but the fact is the black seats with black piping is correct for this car. Model plate says 101.23 which signifies an Alfa Romeo imported into the US by Alfa and intended for the US market. Car has those lovely big rear cast alloy finned aluminum brake drums that is polished would make a wonderful bit of sculptural art. Front discs keep the car on the road and of course they are redone recently. I have a lot of records that show the car was restored in stages by Alfa experts in different parts of the country, the last being Texas before I purchased the car on eBay last year. I undertook the final stages of the cosmetic restoration including the Itlaina vinyl seat recovering, new red clear coat paint, all the chrome bumpers are well replated, the stainless trim is polished and all dings removed, the tires are nearly new correct Michilen radial tires, hub caps are all brand new with new paint on the wheels. Carpets are all in good shape and to the best of my knowledge all of the gauges and accessories work fine. If they dont its a recent development I was not aware of. I am no Alfa expert but like most Alfa lovers of a certain age I have always loved the looks, sounds and aura of this little spitfire of a roadster. Top down, wind the little 1600 up to redline and revel in the sounds of Italian cam shafts and exhaust sounds. I will provide all the records and info i have on this lovely little roadster to the next lucky owner. So why am I selling it after all that work and effort, well lets just say I dont fit into the car as comfortably as I would have twenty years ago. I am frankly now more inclined to drive my Mercedes CLK55 AMG Cabriolet, a car unmatched in my experience for comfort and performance. So this lovely car has to go. That doesnt mean its going to be given away, but a fair market value has been placed on it by way of the reserve. Please feel free to contact me by ebay messaging with any questions or for additional photos, eBay only allows 24 pics which for this gem might not do it justice. And what of the elephant in the room, well believe me when I tell you there is NO RUST, none certainly in the structural members nor the sheet metal that I can find and I have looked hard and a lot. I have owned other sixties Alfas and I know where they virtually all rust and this car has not seen that rust worm. It was a California barn find after being stored for some 20 years under a tarp before being restored correctly as should be for a car of this vintage and importance in the history of Italian sports cars. All of the following work I believe is documented in the records I received with the car, if it is not please accept my apogies and know I will do what I can to make it right. I have been on ebay since the mid nineties, since the days when searching just the words alfa romeo might not bring up anything at all. A far different time for selling cars before the internet made it both easy and difficult. I am very conscious of the difficulties of buying a car sight unseen and will do my best to give you an honest description of the car. I am not an Alfa expert, but I am something of an expert on a couple of different cars and have sold many cars sight unseen with narry a displeased customer as far as I know. The following is a list of things that have been done to the car, either doucmented or readily apparent from a close personal inspection. Take advantage of my increasing inability to crawl in and out of these little cars and buy a car you can be confident has been properly cared for and restored. A good deal of personal effort and expense has been lavished on my little Alfa saving the next owner a good deal of time and effort. New block and head with the carb replaced with a Weber carb for a bit more performance and reliability. The original was not the manufacturer's best ever effort I am afraid while the Weber awakens the engines potential as should have been done by Alfa. New electrical parts including the ignition switch, battery cable, spark plugs, plug wires, ignition bits like points and condensor. New engine parts like pistons, rings, water pump, oil pump, flywheel ring gear, intake and exhaust valves, main bearings, rod bearings, hoses, cam followers, and everything else that should be replaced when the engine was replaced and rebuilt. The mileage stated is what is displayed on the odometer but I would be skeptical that its an acutal. At this age I would wager 13k miles is not all it has seen, but ebay wants sellers to tell what is displayed, which I have done. All sales are final, your high bid is the price to buy this car as is, where is, not a bid to inspect the car. There are unfortunatly a paucity of Alfa experts in northern Colorado so any inspection would need to be done by the prospective buyer. All bids are final, I will reject any bids from bidders with a feedback score below a reasonable number unless you have contacted me before the end of the auction to present your credentials required to bid and show you are financially capable of completing the transaction satisfactorily. Transport is the responsibility of the buyer but I will help in whatever ways I can including hooking the buyer up with a fellow who has done all of my transporting for the last many years who is reliable, honest and very capable. Overseas buyers are welcome to bid but be aware transport to the Port of Entry and transport to your country is ultimately your responsibility. A paypal deposit of at least $2000 within 24 hours of the auctions end is required with full payment within 7 days by either bank wire transfer or cash in person are the only ways full payment will be accepted. If you want to use another method please ask before the end of the auction. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if I choose to do so. I can keep the car safe and secure in my barn for a reasonable time to help the buyer make the transition to their location as smoothly as possible. Also be aware that the high winning bid is essentially a contract to buy the car at the price agreed upon and as such can and will be enforced thru rule of law if necessary. So please do not bid if you cannot pay the final price you bid saving both of us a good deal of grief. The contract will be enforced, period. Car is sold as is, where is with absolutely no warranty either expressed, implied or assumed by the buyer. I have described the car to the best of my ability but I am not a mechanic nor an expert on Alfa Romeo cars, I just love the little buggers and thought I would be able to drive it in good weather here in Colorado. Location of the car is west of Fort Collins in the foothills and it may be necessary for the buyer to pay a local towing company to take the car to the closest location that can be accessed by a large 10-12 car transporter semi truck. If I cannot for any reason not drive it to this location the buyer will be required to pay for a tow. If you were to use my friend who does all of my transport he can pick it up at my home where the car also resides. Please feel free to ask questions about the car before the end of the auction, NOT after. And thanks for taking a look at my lovely little Italian spyder.
