Vehicle Detail

" Triple Black Epilogue Edition for 1979 " Hello and welcome to my auction. If you have followed my auctions in the past , this is not one to pass up. There only comes along so often a classic car of any kind with the " Paperwork" that seperate itself from all others. If you do not know Volkswagens you can order a birth certificate from Germany and it will tell you what the car was originally and many hear all the time that they have a " Rare car" and it never fails it ends up being a dime a dozen or someone has painted the car black and has called it a triple black. There are obvious markers such as the Schwarz or black in english paint code sticker on drivers side shock tower . There is also behind the dash it will be black and it is again obvious even to a novist that it is original paint, then there is getting the birth certificate by using the vin and it could be 4 weeks or better before you find out for sure if you bought a real triple black. There is none of that on this one because I have the Factory Window Sticker from 1979 when it left the dealership. This beetle was shipped to Wilmington Port of Entry and was sold to Volkswagen of America Inc 3737 Lake Cook road Deerfield , Il and then was shipped to Volkswagen North Inc. 600 N. Hi H street in Worthington , Oh. with the color code 9001LL which was the color code from the dealer which was $195.00 extra for black which made it a triple black as all black super beetles with the Vin sequence number after 15920xxxxxx were all triple blacks . The total price in 1979 with the black paint came to $7,517.00 which included the destination charge of $182.00 . The MSRP was $7,140.00 for a brand new Super beetle Convertible off the showroom floor. Next I have the small California title which shows it was issued in 1988 so the car has been in California most of it's life or 24 years it has been in California with no question. I do not know if the car ever was driven or purchased anywhere and it could of been ordered from the dealership in the United States but all I do know is the car has been in California for all but 7 or 8 years . Lets take a second and answer any questions about mileage . I have restored hundreds of beetle convertibles and I have seen my fair share of high mileage beetles and I do not believe this is a high mileage car but I am unsure if it is 13,000 original miles . My professional opinion is the speedometer and odometer was replaced and the mileage that it is showing was after that point. I have no clue what the actual mileage could of been . I have seen this many many times because the inside needle falls off or breaks or it is simply just bad and someone just replaces it brand new. A new speedometer and odometer can be purchased at almost any Volkswagen shop or magizine. Now this is only my opinion and it very well could look this new and fresh because it is indeed 13,000 original miles. Now lets get to the guts . The car had no rust that I noticed before or after work was done and the jack rails for the convertible only were near flawless with original paint. The underside of the car has been restored very nicely and is very solid again with no rust . The front shock towers are in great condition again no rust and the back luggage compartment was in fantastic condition , not even pin holes or even surface rust and was about perfect. The inner heater channels and rockers were again near flawless or rust and I could tell the car was very well taken care of and possibly original low mileage . The front and rear aprons normally on high mileage cars are in desperate need of repair and the back apron is normally not very good due to the catalytic converter running right along that area which harms the paint . This one prior to paint was near perfect . All of the fenders are original German sheet metal , dent free and rust free prior to paint and body . The hood and trunk lid are also German sheet metal and there is a big difference with the aftermarket hoods and trunk lids as they don't fit right and leave big gaps and this one has very nice lines as they should be. I did not paint this car and I had a professional body work and paint done . The bodywork alone on just the main body , not the fenders or hood took around 2 months to get them as straight as they possibly could to get that mirror like finish and you can actually shave or if you are a woman do your make-up in the paint , it is so shiny. Now with that said it is not show car perfect as there are minor little imperfections as I am not asking $30,000.00 as I have seen some sell for without the paperwork this one has. I am just looking for a fair price for a beautiful car to enjoy with your kids or keep in a collection. Now lets get into the powertrain .This has a 1600 cc fuel injected motor . I was told it was a low mileage motor but after checking it over I decided to pull the engine out and completely go through it. So I would have piece of mind that it is totally rebuilt with all new parts including new pistons, cylinders, heads ,rings ,push rods ,timing gear and I had the crankshaft checked and polished and it is a standard with all new barrings as well as new lifters. I did not want to take a chance that there was any doubt the engine is rebuilt . After looking at all the used parts I do agree with the previous owner that the motor looked very clean with very little wear but I am not here to take chances . So the engine has less then 50 miles on it and to be exact it probably has less then 10 . I have replaced the gas tank and flushed all the lines and there is new fuel injectors and the motor purrs like a kitten and has a lot of get up and go like it should. The tranmission shifts flawlessly and there is a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out barring. I have been working double time testing the car and checking all the mechanical and electricial and so far everything works. I am going to mention all the little stuff right here . I have checked all the lights, windshield wipers, speedometer and everything was in good working order and even the original radio and I left it in just for looks but it should work fine. I have not honestly turned it on to check but I can before end of auction . Brand New parts New Paint inside and out New 1600 cc fuel injected motor newly rebuilt with brand new heads not rebuilt heads ,brand new cylinders and pistons and not used . New Black Canvas Convertible top New padding New headliner in white as original New hinge convers in white New tensioning cables New rubber for the convertible top New beading for the fenders New chrome moldings New gravel guards in the front New gravel guards in the back New running boards New door handles New rubber around the door handles, hood pull and trunk pull New rubber around the license plate cover New headlight doors New Front and Rear Bumpers This is an extremely hard item to find and cost me close to $600.00 alone . They simply do not make them anymore . New bumper end caps New antenna New mirrors passenger and drivers side New door panels New seat covers in black original pattern New black carpet New sunvisors New window cranks New starter New fuel injectors New muffler as originally equipped New paint job inside and out but under the hood we have left it totally original so there is no question it is as stated and in excellent condition seriously not needing any work done. This was not done to cut corners as it would not of cost much more then $50.00 more . It was done to preserve the originality . Now with all this said , you are not buying a show car and at this time this ad has been made everything is as stated . I can not be held responsible if a 30 year old car has a minor issue at anytime. I have tried to replace everything that could cause any issues and all the lights sockets are brand new and not just the outer lenes.Last I always encourage independent inspection at buyers cost prior to bidding or end of auction . This car is being sold as is and all sales are final. Please ask questions before bidding . I try my very best to describe the beetle to the best of my ability but your opinion and mine may or may not differ. Terms: Deposit by Paypal of $1,000.00 immediatly at end of auction if you don't have a paypal account and would like to work out the deposit please contact me prior to bidding .Final payment if using paypal you will be responsable for all fee's associated with using paypal . I also accept bank certified check or bank wire transfer by 3 days of end of auctions end. I am doing something a little differently concerning the title and paperwork. Once all monies have been received I am sending it overnight FedEx . I have in the past sent it with drivers or transporters or kept the title during transport myself . I do not want to do that anymore and title will be sent out as soon as all monies have been accounted for. I have pictured the title, envelope where the car was purchased from back in 1979 and also the window sticker which I have pictured on the window and also my counter it's in a protective cover. The car is located in beautiful Paso Robles, California ranked 3rd in the nation as nicest place to live. Thanks for looking . I have lowered the starting price but that does not mean in anyway shape or form that is what it is worth .It is only a starting point to get some bids moving. I don't want to harper on this point but you can't find a 20 footer that needs a restoration for what I am asking in my low reserve and if you do find one , is the convertible top brand new? is it Canvas? with a brand new headliner? Do they have all the paperwork from the dealership and maybe I didn't make this point clear. No one has sat in the new seats, or had their shoes on the new carpet, or has anybody been smoking or spilled anything ? It is totally new , clean and fresh and even the Original Radio works perfect. This is not a car we have been driving around getting ware and tear and to give you an idea that the new canvas top and headliner were only finished 24th of July 2012 and I will updating pictures and video of the car driving around. Thanks again and please check back for more pictures and video. We will entertain all serious buy it now offers . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-cxZQhakW0 Video of the car driving around ...All you have to do is click on the link and it will take you directly to car. Also there are also many videos of cars we have restored in the past and even one that was used in a major shoot in Carmel California. If you have any questions you can call me at 805-423-4559 . On Jul-29-12 at 19:21:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve is Off !!!!! The current bid of $6,100.00 does not even cover what I paid for the car before any work was done. To break it down in dollars and cents $6,400.00 for the body ( what I paid and I thought I got a deal), I have $3,000.00 in body and paint, $3,000.00 in convertible top and interior an additional $1,300.00 in misc parts and last but not least $1,000.00 in the motor rebuild if you add that up you have $14,800.00 invested in the car. You can see my frustration when I see $6,100.00 but I need to sell the car so someone has the chance to make out like a bandit . This is a beautiful car.
