Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is an original 1976 Porsche 912e. This 912 is number 2,009 out of the 2,092 produced that year. A great collector car that will only gain value along the years. This particular 912 is a great running and driving car. It is not a show car, but very presentable and will provide the new owner years of driving pleasure. Here is a little about the car:The previous owner replaced the tired original 2L engine with a rebuilt 2L approx 5-6k miles ago. Mobil 1 synthetic oil has been used since replaced. The car runs the original fuel injection it was originally equipped with from the factory and it runs flawlessly. New fuel injectors were installed at the time the motor was replaced. The car has a high performance coil and electronic points. The car has a header system and muffler that looks like a Bursch, but the manufacturer sticker has burnt off since installed. While the engine was out, the transmission was removed and cleaned before being re-installed with the motor. Both engine and transmission are clean and perform flawlessly with no known problems. The car originally came equipped with A/C, but the compressor and pulley were not placed back on the motor when it was replaced. I do have these parts along with the air vents that go under the dash. The switches that are with the vents are missing, but I do have the knobs. The hoses were capped off so no elements could enter in the lines so it should not take much to get the A/C going again. The car has the original 14" Fuchs that are in very nice condition. It does look like somewhere along the line someone removed the black paint between the spokes. Also, one center cap is missing. The tires are fairly new Bridgestones with around 95% tread. The brakes work well and have no known problems and stop the car fine. The brake light on the dash is on, but does not affect the brakes. I have not had time to track down why the light is on, but again the brakes work well including the E-brake. The interior of the car is in very nice shape with no rips or tears and no major wear marks. The carpet is nice, seats are comfortable and the headliner looks original, and does not have any tears in it. The interior lights both work, all gauges read well except the odometer does not work (so true mileage is unknown). The defrost fan does not work either, these are probably easy fixes, but I have had no time to look into why they are not working. There is an aftermarket Pioneer CD player installed along with a set of speakers in the rear that sit above the package tray. I have disconnected the speakers because they would move around when taking corners. They will be included, but no holes were cut for speakers which is good. The drivers side door stop is also not installed, but I do have one that will be included. The car does have a short shift kit installed, but the original shifter will be included. The exterior of the car is in nice shape with no major damage. There are a few dings, which are to be expected in a car of its age. The most noticeable is one above the fuel filler lid, which can be seen in some of the photos. The paint on the car is probably the weakest point of the car with one respray that is showing it's age. The rubber in between the body and the fenders is rough looking as seen in the photos where it was painted over and now the paint is starting to lift. Also, the front right fender has some lower rust under the headlight (which is the only rust that I have found). The car was repaired on the left side in the rear quarter panel and the door. The metal where the serial tag is installed was replaced along with the door. The serial tag was cut from the original panel and will be included with the car. The repair was done nicely and without very close inspection one would not notice. The serial tag is correct and matches the VIN in the trunk and on the title. There are other issues with the paint as to be expected with an older respray. The car would definitely benefit from a respray and raise the value of the car. The car is very solid with no rust that I have found on the bottom side of the car. The floors are excellent and the truck is just as solid. Also, older Hella fog lights have been installed, but never hooked up. In conclusion, we have a very solid Porsche 912e that runs and drives great with very low miles on a rebuilt motor. The car handles well, stops well and does not have any known problems with the running gear. The car has had no major modifications from factory and has not been tampered with. The interior is in very nice shape and is very comfortable. The car could benefit from a new paint job, but would not take much to get it back in A-1 condition. This car is perfect for either driving as is and enjoying one of the last Porsches with an aircooled 4cylinder motor, or repaint the car and repair some small odds and ends for a show car. Original owners manual, four keys including original lighted key, and tool pouch are with the car. I have describe the car to the best of my abilities. I do welcome any questions you may have on the car and will try to answer them quickly. Please email if you do have any questions. I also have a lot more pictures if serious buyer is interested.
