For sale is my one owner 2002 Jetta GLS TDI. I purchase this car in the fall of 2002 and have owned it ever since. It currently has 78,957 miles on it and will be somewhat higher by the end of the auction as I still drive it. I'm selling the car, as my wife and I (we're retired), also have a 2008 Jetta and I just purchased a Mach 1 Mustang. She says I'm in my second childhood and she may be right. In the last year I have replaced the compressor for the AC (blows cold), one of the electric radiator cooling fans and had the headliner redone. I've also replaced the center console and have changed the oil and filter in the last three months. The car is ready to drive away. If you're familiar with diesels, over 200,000 miles usage is not unusual so it has a lot of life left. The paint finish is still outstanding as attested to by the pictures It does have a couple of minor scratches and shopping cart dings which I tried to show by the pictures. Unfortunately they're not very noticeable in the pictures nor in person. The car was in one minor accident in Florida when I was visiting my sister and the rear bumper was replaced. The glass is clear and free of scratches. The weatherstripping still is supple. The front tires have approximately 1/4 inch of tread left and the rears 3/16 inch. The spare is like new and all are Falkens. The wheels are alloys. The exhaust system is fine. The interior is cloth and I would say in fair to good condition. The drivers seat has a burn mark and a minor as shown by the picture. The passenger seat also has a small burn mark and minor stain as shown in the pictures. When I had the headliner liner replaced, I was quoted a price of $150 to remove the seat covering, make an extra pleat in the fabric to remove the burn, and add some additional foam to the side bolster. You may wish to have this done or not. The back seat is fine. The power windows and power mirrors work as they should. The radio/CD player is missing 3 little knobs for bass, middle and treble. The features still function, the knobs are just missing off the shafts. They got lost somehow when the bumper was being replaced. The plastic in the slot where transmission shifter moves forward and back in the console has partially broken. This is shown in one of the pictures. It does not impact the shifter's function. The gauges all work along with the speedometer. The lights all function as intended. The power door locks and power windows function properly as well. As stated previously the car has 78,957 miles on it. The motor is strong and does not use any oil. The transmission shifts smoothly. With the diesel motor, this car should motor on for another 100,000 miles. The 2002 Jetta TDI is rated at over 40 MPG highway driving. It will save you money at the pump. It will make someone an excellent car. The Kelly Blue Book value for this car retail in fair condition is $8,007. The KBB trade in value in fair condition is $6,512. I believe the car is better than fair as you can see by the pictures. The reserve is less than the fair trade in value. My wife wants her garage back. I have been as honest as possible and believe I have described the car's condition as best I could. I have no desire to disappoint anyone when they get the car. John Hewitt On Jul-27-12 at 05:44:41 PDT, seller added the following information:Since I typed the description last week and scheduled the auction begin date, I noticed a couple of drops of power steering fluid on the garage floor. I took the car to the mechanic and one seal was replaced. After that I haven't noticed any drops but the mechanic couldn't be certain it was fixed. Also in April I ordered a new lower engine cover from Parts Geek. The one they sent does not fit and I'm trying to get credit from them. If I get the credit I'll order the new one they have and it will go with the car. If not the car will be sold without a lower engine cover. Sorry for any inconvenience that adding this after the start of auction may cause.
