Vehicle Detail
Up for Auction is my hard to find rare optioned '65 Buick Riviera. I am the 4th owner of this car. It has a perfect running matching numbers Nailhead 401 6.6L V8 with the Super Turbine 400 3 speed auto transmission. The odometer shows 40929 miles on it. This is non-AC car which is rare along with the Champagne Mist color. The car runs and drives excellent. The car was purchased new by Clarence Young, Jr from Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1965. He kept a lot of service records and all the original manuals and the window sticker. The Personalized Identification Plate is still in the car with C. Young Jr. engraved on it. He had the car until 1988. It was then sold and brought to Wisconsin where it has remained to the present day. The engine and engine compartment have been detailed very nicely. The car had the incorrect air cleaner ('63-'64 401 Riviera style and 425 dual quad valve covers which are listed at this time as well on ebay. The correct valve covers and air cleaner assembly were restored. We decided to paint the valve covers black instead of engine color however. Looks a little “tougher” anyway. New points, plugs and wires were installed and the car was timed and tuned up properly. Fresh oil change. New fuel and air filters as well. The original Q-Jet carb was rebuilt and restored also. Works great. A new battery was installed and stickers removed for cleaner underhood look. The entire brake system was overhauled. New Master Cylinder, Wheel Cylinders, Shoes, Springs and drums turned. The front radius arm bushings are new as well. The Power Brakes work perfectly. The heater core is not connected. Not sure if it leaks or what the reason is. The dual exhaust system was replaced ten years ago but still sounds great and is good and solid. Exterior color is the original Champagne Mist. The car was repainted a couple of years ago and still looks great. The car is virtually rust free except for the inner lower rear quarter extension area. See the close up picture for a good example. There are a couple of very small holes that have been undercoated and sealed. All the trim is present and in good to excellent condition. The rear trunk emblem is incorrect. Someone installed the wrong one on the car. All the glass appears to be the original factory installed pieces. Interior is mostly the original 629 Saddle Custom Interior Option. The dash pad is very nice. The door panels are in good shape. The original wood grain on the console has been redone in vinyl. The front seats need to be reupholstered in the correct Custom Vinyl material. There is some splitting on the top side of the passenger seat and the drivers seat has a spot on the front of the seat back that has been patched. The back seat is in good condition. The optional rear seat center arm rest will not raise up. Not sure what is going on with it. Both lower front kick panels should be redone as well. The Headliner needs replacement as well due to seem coming apart in the back. Headliner trim and sail panels need restoration as well. The carpet is brand new and looks great. New clear floormats. Front Seat belts are present and are the correct in good working condition. The trunk area was degreased and cleaned then trunk spatter was sprayed throughout. A piece of gray carpet was then cut for a trunk mat. The cardboard trunk pieces are still present but showing their age. New ones are available. Original jack and base are included as is a matching chrome rim and tire for a spare. The automatic trunk release is present but the switch in the glove box is defective. Trunk light works. The Clamshell Headlight motor was just completely rebuilt and works perfectly. All lights, turn signals, even the back-up lamps work. Inside even the radio works like new as do both front and rear speakers. The horn currently doesn't work. I believe its the horn switch on the wheel. The dual horns themselves work when tested. Tires have decent tread but should be replaced due to front and rear mismatch. I was going to replace them but decided to let the new owner decide what brand and style of tire they wanted on the car. All new lugnuts on the Buick Chrome Rally wheels. Please ask any questions. I have tried my best to accurately describe this car. Again the car looks, runs and drives great, with a little interior restoration would easily be a nice show car. Includes clean clear title, original documentation and body tag still intact.
