Vehicle Detail

1977 Ford F-100 Ranger Series V-8 302 c.i. engine, with a C4 automatic transmission and power steering. It is painted in silver over black exterior with black/burgundy interior. It is also equipped with a Dana 44 limited-slip 2:73 ratio differential (rear drive). Purchased new from the Ford dealer in Hinton, WV by my deceased father, who upon his death in 1991 willed it to me. The truck then showed somewhere in the mid-eighties mileage and pure stock condition. Due to an over-heating issue in 1993; I replaced the original engine with a 1985 Ford 5.0L long block, I purchased from Pep Boys. [It was over-bored 30 thousands; which in effect, makes it a 313 c.i. block.] It was carefully assembled during its re-build using specified high grade rings & pistons, bearings and gaskets to exacting standards; albeit, in terms of weight matching of individual components and dimensions, to a stock engine. I retained the original 500 CFM Motorcraft 2-barrel carburetor, but did install a “blueprinted” Mallory distributor using the original Motorcraft electronic controls. The remainder of the engine received new components such as fuel pump, wiring, water pump and so forth. It is accident free since new and under my ownership, it has only been driven by either myself or my team of mechanics! I kept it as a hobby vehicle for my son and me, where we continued its on-going rebuilding process, always upgrading it to a livelier drive! This construction consisted of the following: Dual exhaust system, larger capacity radiator, progressive-rated lowered front springs, custom built lowered rear leaf springs, Addco Industries custom built anti-sway bars both front & rear, energy saving clutch-type cooling fan, larger exterior transmission cooler, B&M shifter kit for the C4 auto transmission, factory tinted slide-opening rear window assembly and custom dual exterior engine oil filtration system. The list continues to grow from items ranging from heater core replacement, brake booster, calipers and rotors&drums and exterior fuel filter. The interior was done with custom seat covers in a deep burgundy trimmed it black with the remainder of the interior in stock Ranger trim in good condition. I also built a custom center console with drink holders and speakers. Despite the fact it was rust-proofed when new, while the truck bed is rusty, it still retains every piece of Ranger trim in good condition. The doors need to be re-skinned, but still works perfectly fine. The cab shows surface rust and upon the last inspection, it revealed the usual trouble spots under the carpets to be in good condition with some slight surface rust. This past summer [2011] in Atlanta, GA where I reside, I had it completely tuned including carburetor rebuild, plugs, filter, fluids, radiator flushed, hoses/worm-clamps, fan belts, new High CCA battery and whatever it needed. Despite its rusty bed and outside condition, it always starts with a nice smooth purring sound and drives great, pulling like a new truck and will cruise all day long, well above posted speed limits with no issues. It promises to transform you back to when a: truck was a truck! Sadly, because of the sagging economy; I’m now forced to abandon my project truck and sell it to some deserving person, whose patience and resources will continue its re-build back to original showroom condition. I would be delighted upon request to furnish copious saved invoices dating back to the early 1990's to present, and also share specific info regarding the re-building process to this point. This truck has thousands of miles remaining to the right person!!!
