Vehicle Detail
1966 FORD CUSTOM 500 "GALAXIE" 2-DOOR SEDAN (ORIGINAL - RUNS & DRIVES GREAT!!) This is a nice rare very original condition 1966 Ford Custom 500 (Like a Galaxie) 2-door sedan that runs & drives great!! V.I.N. #6E51V170858 and has a clean Pennsylvania title. The odometer reads 49,884 miles and appears to possibly be original miles but I have no way of knowing for sure. It has the original 240ci 6-cylinder engine and automatic transmission. It runs and drives great!! It has power steering. The engine compartment and engine have been painted and detailed to the original look. It is mechanically in good condition, having had all new brakes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, (4) new B.F. Goodrich tires, complete engine tune-up, battery, muffler, and much much more!! The body is in great original condition, very straight aside from a few small dents on the roof, and having most of its original paint aside from a little touch on the tops of the fenders and hood where the paint was getting thin. The car has amazingly very little rust anywhere except for a few little spots and virtually no rust on the exterior body, floors, or trunk. The only rust on the exterior body is a small spot on rear lower section of the left quarter panel behind the tire (pictured) and on the right corner of the filler panel behind the front bumper (pictured). The trunk floor has a few very small rust holes, mostly pin holes, and nothing in the common critical areas they normally rust, and the majority of the trunk floor is coated with a rust inhibiting primer to preserve and protect it. There is a few small rust holes behind the gas door just below the gas filler neck, the filler neck and mounting is fine its just below that (pictured). There is some rust holes just below the lower bottom drop down section of the trunk lid gasket, the gasket lip appears to be pretty much intact along with the gasket (pictured). The trunk lid itself is very solid and only has some surface rust on the inside bottom on each side of the trunk latch but I don't see any rust holes just some surface rust. Probably the worst rust, and not that bad and easily fixable, is on the front inside lower corner of each door there is a rust hole (pictured), the door bottoms are fine and nothing goes through to or is visible from the outside. The body, floors, trunk, rockers, and frame are all amazing in very good condition. We removed the original worn carpeting and worn headliner (pictured) and coated the floor with a rust inhibiting primer to preserve and protect it. The bumpers had the typical surface rust on the chrome so now they are painted silver. The car is in great condition for its age and definitely a nice car to restore or drive just as it is!!
