Vehicle Detail

1962 Ford Thunderbird Selling my tbird at a big lo$$ to make room. This car is extremely clean and rust free. It is a very original car with only 53k miles on it and I am the second owner of the car. Paint is 6 years old and is not perfect but shows very well (exterior only, the door jambs, under the hood and trunk are original to save the original stickers and maintenance log). 18" Dayton (one lug knock offs) and new Nitto tires. All new upholstery (seats, dash, headliner, carpet). Bumpers front and back. A FULL engine rebuild with no miles on it. In the last six months I have replaced the entire braking system (pads, springs, drums, booster, master, and some of the lines...at a cost of over 1K$). I have also replaced the shocks front and rear with new monroe sensa-shocks. Heat, AC, power seats and power steering. I have, and will include the original wheels, hubs and bias ply tires. I also have the original mufflers in great shape if you wanted to switch them back from the side exhaust. The car runs and drives great with tons of new or reconditioned parts. It does have an exhaust leak on the passenger side manifold and I will include new gaskets. I have just under 12k (yes, twelve thousand dollars) invested in this car. Its not perfect but it will not take much to be. My loss to make some room and pay some bills. No lowball offers or emails. If it doesn't sell I'll drive it for the summer and sell it next year. I can send you pictures of anything you would like including the maintenance log in the door jamb showing the mileage. This car has had NO (ZERO) weld in floors, quarters, or anything else. The only exterior part that is not original to the car is the hood. It has never had any rot or rust and was special ordered for Ivan Galamian (a world famous violinist) and I still have his special order door plate. He drove the car from 1962-1980 and kept it as his summer car in Westport NY where it was garaged in the winters (he lived in NYC for the winters). Ivan died in 1981 and the car sat until I bought it. Feel free to ask questions or request more photos. If I can find a lift, I will take some undercarriage pictures. They will not dissapoint. Overall the car needs a little work to be a show car but all of the hard (and expensive) work has been done. Or it can be driven and enjoyed just the way it is. It is strong, fun, classy and gas mileage is really not bad at all (@15 mpg highway). If you would like to see the car, or send someone to see the car email me with a phone number so we can schedule it. Shipping is up to the buyer. Shipping company, or pick it up in person after the final amount is paid. I also have no problem shipping to other countries as long as you are taking care of the details. On Jul-09-12 at 06:43:07 PDT, seller added the following information: I figured I would update this since I have had endless emails asking a lot of the same questions. The engine: It was taken down to the block and new gaskets were installed. The has been no "bore over" or performance parts added. The engine was clean and we used all of the original parts. It runs and drives but has been in storage for a year (all of the fluids have been changed this year). I have never taken it on a long trip, so to answer the question of "can I fly in and drive it home with an in transit plate?", I would not as I wouldn't with any 50 year old vehicle..your call. The interior: The seats are original. The padding and upholstery were replaced when the car was painted six years ago. The same for the new dash and carpet. Just as the car, the interior is not "show quality" but is very nice. The body: As I said in my first narrative, it is solid. Its an original 53k mile car and it shows. The paint is not perfect and has had touch ups over the years. Nothing drastic. I am trying to describe the car the best I can so no one is dissapointed thinking that its a 20K show car. It is priced low at a loss to me and well under book value for a quick sale. Please email with any further questions or provide a phone number and I will call you.On Jul-10-12 at 15:14:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Today: Fluids changed and checked. Timing checked and adjusted. Carburator tuned. Running great. Now its ready for a "drive it home anywhere". Reserve is so close.
