Vehicle Detail
I purchased the car in August 2008 for $3,800 and have put about $8,000 and a lot of labor into it. I have two Datsun 280Zs and I don’t have room to store the TR7 and I’m trying to save for new house so I am selling it. I have worked on every system of the car. Here is a list of some of the things I’ve done: 1) Rebuilt tranny: new syncros, new 3rd gear, new bearings, new pump… (5-speed) 2) New clutch kit, master cylinder, slave cylinder, stainless steel braided hydraulic hose 3) New fuel system: new tank from Rimmer Bros, repainted and lined, new fuel lines, new fuel pump 4) Rebuilt carbs, manual choke installed 5) Professionally rebuilt alternator 6) Pertronix Ignition with new coil, wires, plugs, rebuilt vacuum retard unit 7) Radiator flushed, pressure tested, and painted 8) All bushings on suspension replaced, new front dampers, new engine mounts 9) Soft top was new in 08, beige interior being converted to black, just need a new carpet kit to finish, seatbelts were replaced with new aftermarket 10) Spent over $2,000 having a shop review entire car last spring, test and tune carbs I spent considerable time to preserve the metal but still needs some work. The undercarriage has been cleaned and painted with Eastwood paint. It may not be the prettiest at the moment but has potential. There are some areas of rust that still need to be taken care of. There are cracks along the edges where the floorboards connect to the surrounding panels that need to be welded. The electrical system could use some sorting. The passenger headlight doesn’t always illuminate for some reason and the dash lights don’t always work. The previous owner put a small subwoofer in the trunk but I’ve disconnected it; it comes with the car if you want it. The heater core was bypassed by the previous owner evidently due to a leak. I have a used assembly from TSI Imports ready to be installed that has been pressure tested. You need to take the entire dash out of the car to do the swap so I haven’t done it yet. The car gets a lot of attention everywhere it goes. I drive the car regularly and it’s a lot of fun. I can go on and on about the car so if you’d like to chat about the car send me your phone number and I’ll call you. We can also arrange for you to come see the car. The car was just inspected and passed. It is insured and on the road.On Jun-25-12 at 17:30:27 PDT, seller added the following information: I received a question about the rust on the body. I have addressed many of the rust spots but there are still more to be fixed. The right rear fender has some rust on it that I've wire brushed and painted with rust encapsulator. This rust area is all the way through the metal and should be cut out and replaced. There is also a rust hole behind the driver shock tower in the engine bay. This is a typical area for rust. There are many blemishes all over the car including chipped paint, dings, scratches, bubbles, rust, etc.. The car has was painted by a previous owner to a slightly more orange color (less red). It was not a great paint job but it works. It would take considerable effort to make this a show car but it's currently a great daily driver. I have close-up pictures of the rust that I can send you if you'd like. On Jun-28-12 at 18:57:13 PDT, seller added the following information: I realized that I have a black interior kit for the car that I got when I purchased the seats and door panels! I never took it out of the box but based on the seats and door panels it's probably in good shape. I'm not sure if it includes all the carpet parts but you get what I have plus the tan interior that I took out.
