Awesome summer vehicle! !! Convertible / Convertable TOP !!! ............... 3.73 front and rear axles, heavy duty front and rear springs...... 345 V8...... She always starts even in winter ........... 4x4 - 4 - Four Wheel Drive Works fine.Pans are fairly solid with exception of rivet repair job on both rear tire wells. .................. Suspension good - ...(could maybe use shocks)..... Tie rods good ........ Power steering fine............ Frame is VERY solid............ Transmission and engine strong............... Clutch good.............. Third gear a little tricky until you figure out where sweet spot is.............. Body has dents and scratches and holes... .... the worse being driver side rocker panel. that has holes (but so does my 2001 Chevy I just sold) ........ ..... Top has inner panels but not attached since one needs minor repair (small crack) and could use a little cleaning........... Custom wood panel top sags a little but would sag less once panels are in place.............. Seats are decent (I have another Scout and those seats are fine too, but I might swap them out. Those are fabric with plad design. No tears or rips in either set............. Dash has one crack. ....... Four speed has no problems on freeway cruises at seventy mph fine. .......Brand New ignition tumbler but missing one little bolt so pulls out sometimes. - SUPER EASY FIX - .............. Only have the one ignition key................ Radio Works .-............ horn works .............- wipers work ..............- signals work ..........- heat blows ........... Tires are like newGas tank holds gas with no leaks and the gas gauge works ..................- Voltage meter works ............- bottom of doors a little rusty and drivers window crank not working .............A bolt is missing on automatic locking hub an a little loose so have never taken out of four wheel drive ......................- All glass good with no cracks ..................- Emergency brake not working .............- Needs side mirrors (One is on it but it's loose)......................- Has a VERY NICE Scout winch bumper (no winch) Looks real sharp. ....................- Odometer says 74k. I believe it all to be original because of condition of the tranny, engine, and suspension are in such good shape. It's possible all these components where rebuilt at one time but either way, it's a win-win for the buyer. ................................. It has a some rust but they all rusted within ten years if driven in north. .............. Overall its in good shape with superficial rust and not that much in my opinion.................... Recently changed to synthetic oil which it loves...................... Please ask questions and inspection encouraged as well as any picture you want me to take by email or smart phone............ This is a rare incredible vehicle and is on it's way to being restored. ............. Someone will love this thing as is, or with a little work. ............... Please remember that this is not a brand new vehicle and is somewhat a project. ................. please call 1-608-574-3149 for showings............Truck is currently in Madison Wisconsin and can be viewed anytime........ On Jun-14-12 at 21:42:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I HAVE THE ORIGINAL BUILD DOCUMENTS FROM 1977 TO INCLUDE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THERE IS ONE PICTURE OF ONE OF THE SHEETSOn Jun-15-12 at 16:29:57 PDT, seller added the following information: New Info !!!!!!! I just went through the truck and checked it over real good one last time. I am by no means trying to sound like a used car salesman here, but this truck is actually in better shape than the pictures show. I kind of scratched my head and thought about cleaning it up, doing a little bondo work, and taking it to Macco for a quick $1000 paint job. I could probably sell this thing for ALOT more. But with respect to all proud Scout owners, I'm going to let the auction run its course and give the next owner a chance to put his own taste into doing the final touches. (I think that's part of the fun with these projects) I had one person ask me more about it, so I only thought it would be fair to include all parties with my answers. I recently bought this vehicle and used the buy it now option on ebay. Almost 6 hours after I agreed to purchase this one, another Scout popped up locally on Craigslist. I JUST HAD TO HAVE THAT ONE! I paid alot more money for it but was more than 95% complete. So out of respect to the ebay seller, I still purchased this one too. I don't need 2 scouts and the one I purchased on Craigslist already has every knob, molding, gauge, etc. Interior is finished, It needs practically nothing. It was owned by the same owner who is 71 years old and he bought it in 1981. He ownes storage units and kept my new one stored inside for the last 31 years. He's taken it to Alaska every year for the last 10 years and decided he was getting too old to make the trips any more. So you can see why I had to purchase that one. I think I had "Scout Fever" that day. I BOUGHT 2 SCOUTS IN THE SAME DAY! LOL! I did not strip ANY parts off of this one......... NOT ONE! Almost everything is there and ready for final touches. If I was going to strip anything, I'd take the front bumper and seats for sure! They're so much nicer than the ones in the other Scout that I'm keeping. This one you are bidding on was just driven over 200 miles in the last 3 days. So I believe it will make a long trip if the buyer is traveling a distance to get it. The body on the one you are bidding on is actually in very good shape and like I said, the pics make it look worse than it is. (at least in my opinion) Interior is pretty darn decent too. I tried uploading more photos but ebay will not let me since the auction already started. So that's the history on this one. My loss is your gain. Who every buys this will love it I'm sure. Feel free to ask any questions. I'll try and give a quick response, but my messages don't get forwarded to my phone so I have to check ebay messages every now and again. Good Luck!
