Vehicle Detail

A very solid 1960 rotisserie rebuilt Austin Healey Bugeye offered up for auction I will attempt to give you a complete description of all the cars components and their condition. This Bugeye was completely disassembled and refurbished. The several layers of previous paint were stripped off. The car was then put on a custom made rotisserie. Please look at the photos. All the rust was cut out of the car and new steel was MIG welded in affected areas. Floor pans, battery box, and outer A pillars were replaced with new panels. Next the body was body worked and sprayed with several coats of a quality ppg sealer. This was followed by several coats of a PPG Mini Cooper chili pepper red. Finally, several coats of clear coat urethane were added giving the finish a deep and rich appearance. There is plenty of clear coat applied to the car so further wet sanding and buffing will not be a problem if you choose to. The underside was treated with a urethane tintable undercoating. The car then had all the components reinstalled. These components were either replaced with new parts or refurbished originals. The engine was said to be rebuilt. It is a correct 948, but not the original block. A new water pump, thermostat, were installed. The radiator was serviced and pressure tested. New valve cover gasket , and oil filter were installed. Transmission is a rib cage type, and appeared to be in good order. Oil was changed. Clutch appeared to be replaced and still has lots of miles left on it before it needs changed. A new slave cylinder was installed. Fuel lines, and fuel tank are new. Rear end was removed, drained, and new outer bearings and seals were installed. New oil was then added. Brakes had the master cylinder resleaved in brass and rebuilt. All new hoses, brake lines , rear shoes were installed. Upgraded front disc brakes with new rotors were also installed. Interior panels are made with black vinyl. Seats are black with red piping made in soft grain vinyl. Door panels use the correct original arched door pocket panels. Doors have new black check straps. Door weather stripping is also new. Carpeting is a new Moss Motors black set. Dash is also covered with black vinyl. Wiring is a combination of repaired old and replacement wiring. Convertible top is a new Robbins black vinyl top with a three panel rear view. Windshield is a new moss replacement glass, with new gaskets.Windshield wipers, turn signals, horn, and lights all work fine. Tires are new and have been balanced and installed on the original refurbished rims with new valve stems installed. Rims have been blasted and repainted. Hub caps are original. Suspension has had the front control arm bushings, fulcrum bolts, bearings and upgraded disc brake hubs installed. The exhaust is a good old exhaust that was installed to get the car up and running. My intent was to install a stainless system on it. Rear end suspension has new rebound straps, new radial arms with bushings, and new outer bearings and seals in the rear axle. New Moss heavy duty rear springs have been installed as well. I have the original front bumper and a set of side curtains that will need redone. As you can see from the photos, and description, the car has had a lot done to it. I am setting a reasonable reserve for it's condition. I have a good title in my name and a British Heritage certificate as well. The car only needs a few things to make it complete. A heater box, new rear view mirror, and a spare tire. Heater vents are in the car. I do have a heater core and part of a heater box. The original jack is with the car. Please view all the photos and judge the car for yourself. I have plenty more photos that I can supply of any areas that you may want to see. This car is being sold as is with no warranty . Identification numbers are car number AN5L/19180, engine number 9 CU-H-42563 Thank you for checking it out and please do not bid if you can not follow through with the sale. Thank you and good luck! On Jun-10-12 at 16:10:24 PDT, seller added the following information: I took the car down the road today to run it through the gears and it ran pretty well. I did notice the speedometer stopped working, and the charging light is staying on. I will try to check it out before the end of the auction. I did reduce my reserve today.
