this is my buddy's 65 mustang base coupe. just a 6 cyl, 3 speed stick, 13'' wheels. the car was in new mexico untill 1985; my buddy bought it in '86 out of colorado. rebuilt the engine & trans, drove it about a year out there, then relocated to chicago area. in about '88, he took alot of the trim off in preparation for body & paint work. and that's about when the project stalled out. the car has been parked outside most of the time since then. the shop he had it parked at said it must go, so it's time to pass it along to somebody who will actually do something with it. the engine was not stuck, so i pulled the dist., ran the oil pump, and filed the points. installed the newly rebuilt carb he had never put on before, ran a gas line to a remote can, and it fired right up. no lifter noise, no bearing rumble, no smoke. the exhaust is still more or less in 1 piece, so it was easy to listen for bad noises ( there were none). so aside from cosmetics, the engine doesn't need anything. i did not try to drive it (no brakes), but it since it drove ok when parked, the worse i can imagine would be the clutch disc is might be stuck to the flywheel. or maybe not since the wheels turn ok, no stuck drums. the body and interior need a complete resto; the frame rail sections all look ok. i tried to take alot of pics of the underside to show its basically solid. yes, it needs floors. if there's pictures you want but don't see just ask. i had the seats out for the floor pics, but it does come with seat cores, in fact there's 2 back seat assemblies. separately availible, and not included with the car sale, is a set of pony seats F&R in red for a coupe like this. inquire if you're interested. all the glass is good. i'd say 95% or better of the trim pieces he took off are all here, he was pretty good about keeping track of stuff. the windshield moldings, valance panels, grill, taillights, bezels, etc are all in boxes in the trunk. it come with a nice spare trunk lid he picked up along the way. car has clean colorado title & keys.
