Vehicle Detail

1970 Olds 442 convertible project. Originally equipped -from what I can tell, the data tag, and the pieces of the build sheet I have- M21 close ratio 4 speed OAI hood 3.23 posi 12 bolt Olds Rally Pack gauges A/C Sport Wheel Console Bucket seats Power windows Power top Power trunk release AM FM Car is code 48 Sherwood green, Saddle interior, gold top and hood stripes. I found the remains of the build sheet in the springs of the pass bucket. There is not a lot left. The biggest piece has the first 5 of the vin, the 979 trim code, M21 (4 speed), D55, BC1, A90, A31, A51. Motor was blown in late '78 and the car was parked. Original motor and trans are gone. I can't find the code on the rear, but is a 12 bolt Olds 3.23 posi (I checked) and looks very original to the car. The rear sway bar, boxed arms, and special 4 speed frame braces are all there. I do have the original 1111982 dist., trans crossmember, driveshaft, and some brackets, all are included with car. The a/c compressor is still on car, the a/c system is complete and still seems to have a charge! The z-bar is still on the car, as are the motor mounts. I don't have the air cleaner. The rims are not original, however, they came a '70 parts car I had and are included. I have the original console (and shift boot) which I had professionally redone (needs top plates). Came out really nice, see pics. It is included. The rest of the interior is there, minus the dr door panel, but very rough, spent years in the weather. The tach, gauges, sport wheel, are all there. Car is a serious project. Lots of rust. However the frame looks decent , no holes, or damage that I can find. But the body needs trunk floor, quarters, all the typical pieces. Rockers look ok. Hood is rough, damaged in the front, rot in the underbracing. All the floor pan braces look good. Pinholes in the pan in spots. Floor pan under the rear seat on the passenger side is gone. Surface rust and holes in spots on cowl. Right fender is bad, left may be useable. Doors and decklid have rot. The car flat out needs A LOT. Don't fool yourself, this is a serious project. I think its worth doing, I really like the color combo, it's one of the 500 or so '70 442 4 speed convertibles built. I just have a '68 I want to do more then this car. No, its not a W30. Can't be, it's Linden built. I got the car about 10 yrs ago from a local guy that bought it around '75. I have the clean PA title in my name. $250 deposit in 48 hrs from end of auction.
