Vehicle Detail
Thanks for your interest in my round-arch MG series III. Series III MG Midgets were still designed with the beautiful chrome trim from the '60 models, but with some added body width of series IV, increased engine size, added safety features such as collapsible steering column, third windshield wiper (Like in Jaguar XK E Series 1 1/2), side marker lights, and with some additional chrome detailing. Many consider the round-arch Midgets with chrome bumpers produced for model years 1972 and 1973 to be the most desirable. These cars were produced in the Abingdon factory for only two model years. The '73 model, sold here, is the last year of production of the chrome bumpers model, and the only to benefit by some series IV upgrades such as a modern alternator instead of the dynamo. It has the original 1,275 cc mini cooper engine with the twin cooper signed carburetors, the more luxurious American spec. dash board, and the original factory wire spoke wheels option. I bought this little red gem about two years ago, and I'm selling because I don't get to use it.The MG has only 62,000 original miles, and was professionally restored about four years ago using with all new original MG parts with no budget restraints, bringing the car to a beautiful show car condition. The car was not used since this extensive restoration. But because it was parked out side for a winter before I purchased it, a few easy to fix paint chips can be seen (pictured) on the left side of the hood, and left fenders. Apart from this, the paint is great condition and the car shows no rust at all. It was stored in a climate controlled place since I bought it.The interior is in excellent shape, so is the roof, trim and lights. The tires haven't been used and are in excellent shape. The MG runs and drives great it also sounds great, but because it was not used in the past few years it would probably need a tune up, and a little detailing. It would not take much to bring it back to its show condition. I'm selling it As-Is with no warranty but you are more than welcome to come and check it personally before bidding. As the value of micro cars is increasing, and the MG name is back in the market, this chrome bumpered MG has to be a great investment. I'm also sure that driving this little MG will make it's next owner very happy. Good luck bidding!
