No reserve listing. This is my 1978 Mercedes 300CD Diesel Coupe with only 90,331 original miles since new. This is a superb car, and probably the finest 300CD you will find for sale. This car is very rare, it was made from 1977-1981 only and 7502 were produced total, for an average of 1500 per year. This is the luxury coupe version of the nearly indestructible W123 300D sedan. This was a USA-only car, not sold in Germany. It is shorter, lighter and better-handling than the sedan, and will get approximately 38 mpg. This is a great car- I would be surprised to see a comparable 300CD for sale anywhere in the country.This Mercedes has the following: 3.0L 5-cylinder DieselAutomatic transmissionPower windows and locks (working well)Large power moonroofOriginal Becker AM/FM cassette (works great) This car starts, runs and drives beautifully. The glow plugs work perfectly and the engine starts on the first try, every time. It idles well, and accelerates strongly. These cars have an unfair reputation for being slow- I had it out on the freeway at 80 mph last week with no trouble! This car drives great in the city and on the highway. There are no known mechanical problems. This car drives wonderfully- it is stable, tight, and it brakes, handles and steers well. It feels like a much more modern car than 1978- it doesn't have any of that 70's float that the big American cars did. This car is completely and totally reliable, and I'd trust it to drive anywhere. You can fly in and drive this car home. The interior is all-original and the carpets, upholstery, seats and headliner are all in great, clean condition. The engine bay and trunk are clean and nice as well. I have the original First-Aid kit as well as the spare wheel and jack. The tires have nearly full tread. The paint and body are beautiful- as nice as you could ever hope for a 1978 car. The body is completely solid in every way with no rot. The paint is glossy, clean and in great condition. The paint is mostly original, but has been touched up in a few places. There is no body rust of any consequence, this is probably the most rust-free 300 you will find for sale. The underside is clean and solid. The body panels are straight, clean and in great condition. All the panel gaps are tight and consistent. There is no indication of any accidents or damage, ever. This is a nearly 35-year old car, and as such it isn't perfect. Please expect normal wear and tear and flaws typical for the age of the car. Here is a complete list of everything I know of that's wrong with the car: There are nicks, scratches and paint chips that have been brush-touched. There are a few small dings, including one on the driver's side front fender. The power antenna doesn't go up automatically, but you can raise and lower it manually. The dashboard has a cover over it, and the vinyl material under the gauge cluster is somewhat cracked and has been touched up with blue dye. The left rear power window needs a little help coming up. I'm quite sure this is the nicest condition 300CD for sale anywhere.Kept in my building in Willoughby, OH.
