1981 Porsche 911 SC Targa 3.0 L Euro in very good condition. VIN #WP0ZZZ91ZBS140020. Engine has just been built with a combination of top end parts from original engine and a 1979 Euro short block 3.0. The Dilavar lower case studs were replaced with Porsche steel case studs, 5 original pistons and cylinders and one piston and cylinder, which was the same type as the original 5 which were used. Cylinders were lightly honed with special grape hone and special oil type used on Nikasil cylinders. New Goetze rings were also installed. Valves and seats were ground and new valve seals installed. Heads are 39mm intake and 35mm exhaust ports. Carrera tensioners were installed along with turbo exhaust valve covers. Reassembled engine was test run on a stand for break-in and leak check. Engine was built by a PCA member and vintage Porsche 911 racer. Engine starts very easily, warms up quickly, sounds good and runs strong. Dash is in very good condition. No cracks. No rips or tears in seats, just normal wear on leather. Interior is in very good condition. Targa top works well and is in good condition. A new power friction clutch disk was just installed when the motor was built. Good daily driver or perfect to restore. Body is very solid, no rust out areas and did not find any prior accidents by computer check or visual check. Has good tires. Genuine Fuchs polished 16" wheels with front 205 55 Michelin Pilot 89H, rear 225 50 ZR16 BF Goodrich GForce Sport, with approximately 1/3 wear left. The bad news: the speedometer works, the odometer does not. The mileage indicates 95,708. However, it broke with the previous owner and is estimated to have about 10,000 more miles, but this cannot be verified. Computer check showed 94,000 miles in January of 2000 and for 13 years the prior owner only used it for PCA events. I bought it to restore after he experienced head bolt breakage. Now that the engine is finished, I just don't have the time to sort out minor problems. These include driver electric window not working and occasionally the idle runs up and down. Both visors are missing. The transmission shifting can be a little notchy going into second gear but overall it is in very good condition. All in all it is a nice daily driver with just the normal 30 year old quirks. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate this a 7.5 to 8. Paint finish is in very good condition and was probably base-coat clear-coat refinished in the late 90s to 2000. There are the normal small chips but it has been stored under cover so the gloss and shine are still excellent. Closeup photos have been taken of the blemishes. Car was originally air conditioning equipped, however prior owner removed compressor and condenser. As this vehicle is 31 years old, there is no warranty and it is being sold as is.
