Vehicle Detail
1935 Packard 1200. 127" wheel base. It stands large and proudly. Smooth and quiet straight eight engine produces about 100 HP. Transmission is 3 speed manual, synchromesh on second and third. Brakes power assisted mechanical. Sold new through Gee Brothers-Wylie Co. in Memphis, TN on 9-9-35. Original owners kept car well into the 1950's. Never seen salted roads and body is in extremely good condition having been repainted only once in the very distant past. Vehicle mostly original and sheet metal is absolutely excellent with NO BODY FILLER ANYWHERE! Chrome is original and presentable. Original english broadcloth interior while reasonable and presentable, would need restoration in the future. Mechanically, car extensively restored. Receipts for almost $20,000. Engine rebuilt in early 1990's, and runs extremely quietly. Gas tank sealed, transmission rebuilt, clutch replaced, stainless steel exhaust installed, steering box overhauled, etc. 700-17`` WWW tires are starting to show their age and there is a slight vibration at 35MPH, then disappears. I suspect a balance issue and would also suggest a new set of tires eventually. Rear doors have a slight fitting issue; my suspicion would be the wood frame inside the doors needing some minor work (has shrunk a bit over time). The car has a few tiny rattles and squeeks while driving over big bumps, but overall an extremely solid car! Would make very easy restoration as it is mostly minor cosmetics, or drive as is and show. Again, mechanicals excellent! Car also has the optional leather trunk (not shown in photos), Trippe lights, original factory wheel disc covers, bumper guards, trunk rack, heater, spare parts like interior handles, etc. With the sale will go original mint condition dealership brochure, shop manual, owners manual, original tune-up chart, and fitted car cover. Very scarce vehicle and would make any future Packard collector proud. Ask the man who owns one...Please feel free to ask questions and good luck bidding...Please also see my 100% feedback...My description is honest and true and also keep in mind that the car is 77 years old and not perfect. Please arrange your own shipping. I can provide storage for up to 6 weeks free of charge. I can also help with local delivery to any shipping centre of buyers choice. P.S. the fuse just went out on the headlights, needs to be addressed, could also be connection on headlight switch ...nothing major...
