Vehicle Detail
I bought this car in 1989, in California, and it's been here ever since. As best I can tell, it's been here since the beginning. The subframe sections, floor pans, truck, etc. are all solid, with no rust to speak of. Initially, it was a forest green/white interior car. I stripped it down to metal, replacing a number of small sections of sheet metal, due to rust issues, and sprayed it Panther Pink...which faded in about the same amount of time it takes to write this ad. That was 20+ years ago. It served me as a daily driver for a number of years with various small block V-8s. In 1997, I went through the car again, changing the color to Go-Mango and improving a number of items, including cleaning up the dash and rebuilding the original slant 6. The car won Best in Show at the local Slant 6 Club show in the late 90's. A few years later I decided the slant 6 was too slow, so I built a 340 (.020" over KB Hypereutectic pistons; Edelbrock RPM kit (heads, RPM Air Gap manifold and mechanical cam); full balance, Harland Sharpe rockers; Fluidamper, ARP bolts, etc.), rebuilt a 727 transmission with TCI components and converter, installed a full TTI aluminized 2-1/2" exhaust system (headers to tips), installed a 8-3/4" rear axle with 3.55:1 Sure Grip and Moser axles, and added the SSBC rear disc brake conversion kit, to match the front discs I transferred from a 73 A-body. The master cylinder and proportioning valve are from Master Power Brakes. It uses a 750 CFM Holley 3310 carb and a Carter street electric fuel pump (EP4070, if that matters to you). The car was converted to MoPar electronic ignition and uses an MSD 6AL control box. The Griffin aluminum radiator is cooled by a Spal electric fan. Once the majority of this stuff was installed, I broke in the cam, then began to work on a house and a family, so the car sat for essentially 6 years, with little movement. During the last year and a half, I've been able to scrape some time together and get it back on the road, but time is short and the car needs attention. It is a great car from 10 feet away. Most everyone who sees it thinks it's fantastic, but they don't see the details. The car needs work and after twenty years, I have neither the time, nor the desire to go through it a third time, with a family that doesn't appreciate it. I believe the pictures are a good representation of the vehicle. It has a number of small spots that have begun to bubble from rust, which will require metal repair. Door strikers are solid on both sides, and the rear lower quarters are generally in very good condition. The clear coat is peeling off along the right side of the car and on the hood. There are a variety of little things that need to be done, including the emergency brake, which doesn't have the cables between the Dodge part under the car and where the Ford calipers are mounted, (those will need to be custom made), the antenna, which is no longer with the car, and the speedometer, which recently stopped working for reasons I have not yet determined. The top keeps the rain out, but it is at the end of it's life. There are a couple of very small holes showing, but it's on borrowed time. The power and hydraulics all work fine for the top. The tires are only a few months old now, as are the lower ball joints. The car is going to the alignment shop this week and should be complete by the time this auction closes. There is still sorting out to be done. I have only put about 200 miles on the car since I got it up and running again. If you're looking for a prime example, this isn't it, but if you want to do some work to finish it off and have a great driver that makes heads turn, it's a fantastic starting point. The one thing I'm sure of is that I won't get the money out of it that I put into it. Maybe you can, after you give it some love. I have more pictures and will take pictures at your request, if I don't already have them. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4
