Vehicle Detail
Due to the unforeseen but typical expenses incurred on project number 1 (58 TR 3a), along with my dream of a coupe and a convertible in the garage versus my wife's of only one sports car at a time is over, and the latter has won. I am parting with my project #2 a 1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia GT Sprint Veloce. Extremely dry, near rust free, complete, unmodified (other then 1750 webber cc dropped in sometime back in the 70's), unmolested and straight 1967 Stepnose Gilulia GT Sprint Veloce. The car has been off the road since 1994. I first spotted this car parked along side a local service station here in the sunny and dry Okanagan in 1991 where it sat and sat and sat. In 2009, after years of hounding the owner who incurred who nows how much in storage fees, he eventually parted with the car and I became the proud 4th owner. This car has always been on the British Columbia Canadian West coast with the last 20 yrs off the road in the sunny and dry southern interior of the province. Car was parked in excellent shape then left to sun bake for 20 years. As seen in the photos, dash is toasted away along with some of the vinyl surfaces that were visible to the sun. One of the owners also dropped in a very new at the time pair of "flying buttress seats" same time as the engine. The seats were left exposed and also suffered from sun bleaching to the vinyl however remain in excellent condition frame and function wise. Door cards are in surprisingly excellent condition as are the rear quarter trim cards. Back seat also complete but vinyl fried. AlI interior and interior stainless steel trim is in excellent condition. I stripped out the interior and all stock tar insulation as seen in the photos to reveal what is essentially a dry car. Minor body work such as rear fender wheel lips and outer sills were replaced along with one small repair on front left corner of fender. Sills do not need any work and only some repair to be done to the driver side rear wheel arch, trunk is excellent with one small hole in spare wheel compartment. Other typical Alfa rust areas such as roof rain channels down to roof quarters, front windshield sill area clean and rust free. Floors have typical rust in front right corners 3" dia, but again would not require replacement for the typical resto. I also stripped off under carriage areas of the oil based rust coating to show just how dry this car is. Suspension mounting points front and back are dry. Original mint condition factory paint is found under the undercoat on 90% to 98% of this car. Brakes and clutch non operational, however drivetrain in good running condition and it rolls free. In 1991 the car went in for carb rebuild and minor top end adjustment work and then it sat. Amazingly this car has over the past 20 yrs has been started up religiously and has always started up after a few pumps from the electric fuel pump, idling and revving beautifully. I recall a green stepnose being sold by a classic car shop in California that was close in condition to this one but this one is nicer it sold for $12,000. Looking for a dry, straight and complete stepnose to rebuild? You've found it. I have more pics of the the door cards and seats available. I buffed the oxidized paint recently and surprisingly the paint cmae back pretty nice and looks pretty good from 10ft. The car is advertised locally therefore I reserve the right to cancel this auction. Buyer is responsible for shipping and moving. $1,000.00 deposit required within 24 hrs of auction close via paypal.
