This vehicle is an extremely low mileage 1974 Mercury Montego Brougham 2 door hardtop with a like new interior, a strong and healthy 400 cubic inch engine with air conditioning that works. I purchased this car in December, 2011, from the 2nd owner in Ely, Minnesota. The vehicle was purchased by the 2nd owner in 2003 from an Ely college student who was given the car by his ailing Grandmother. When the 2nd owner got the car, the brakes had rusted away and it needed repair. It was towed to an Ely mechanic where the car was stored for the next seven years. In 2010, the 2nd owner had the brakes fixed as well as having all new hoses and the like installed. Since the time of repair, the 2nd owner started and ran the car every 3-4 weeks or so. Unfortunately, the 2nd owner never took the time to transfer the title in Minnesota and since the vehicle had not been registered for a number of years, the vehicle ownership registration 'fell out' of the MN DOT computer. In the State of Minnesota, in order to obtain a new title, the 2nd owner would have had to visit a judge and get an order to force a title. Instead, he sold it to me on an EBay auction in December, 2011. The vehicle does not have a salvage title but the EBay format demands a choice so I picked that one. I purchased the car with a Bill of Sale and signed statement from the 2nd owner along with obtaining the Buyers Record from the origional Minnesota 'little old lady's' title. I am in Wisconsin where after purchase of a Bond from an insurance agent for about $150, the car can be titled in WIsconsin. It had been my intention to use the interior in the restoration of a 1972 Mercury Montego, pull the engine and save it and part out the rest of the car to recover my purchase price but just after Christmas, my wife surprised me with a completely restored 1972 Mercury Montego. This car is a strong runner and starts right up. One look at the interior will confirm this car has had little use. One look at the exterior and you will know it was parked in a snowbank in Ely for many years. No Reserve! Warranty: None. Terms of sale: Bill of sale and all the trailing paperwork back to the origional owner only. It is the buyer's responsibility to secure title if you want to put it back on the road (this car is worth the effort to fix the body and put it back on the road!)
