Vehicle Detail
1979 US-model Porsche 928 with manual transmission Mechanical The engine ran well, but with intermittent lifter ticking. It no longer runs because of a fuel leak at the rear of the vehicle. I lowered the fuel pump in an attempt to repair it, but I couldn't locate the leak. The shifter ball cup was replaced with a more durable all-metal part. The stock shifter (included) has been replaced by an aluminum short shifter with ball knob. In 2007, the induction and fuel systems were torn down, cleaned up and rebuilt. Many hoses including fuel hoses were replaced. The clutch holds all of the engine's torque. The manual transmission is equipped with a limited-slip differential and does not grind into gear. The exhaust system is free of leaks and a bung has been welded in to accept an O2 sensor. Interior The dash material is cracked. Seats and headliner are in decent condition for their age with no major tears. Some vinyl over the rear wheel wells and rear center console was cut to fit speakers. All the audio hardware in the car has been removed. The power windows and locks do not work reliably. Exterior Color is brown inside and out. The paint is dull and is chipping in places. There is rust along the edges of the hatch and roof. There is a major crack in the windshield that has kept the car from being inspected since 2008. The phone dial alloys are in decent condition. The tires are old Eagle GT P225/50R16 with a fair amount of tread left. Windshield wipers need to be replaced. Misc Air compressor, owner's manual, lots of maintenance records, misc hoses/plastics/panels, a battery in unknown condition dated 2007. Terms Since the car does not start, buyer will need to arrange towing/shipping. This vehicle is offered without warranty. The seller shall be released of liability at the time of sale. On May-09-12 at 21:13:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Service Records These are some of the major procedures I've found going through the service records left by the previous owner: At 49550 miles, master cylinder was replaced At 55231 miles, distributor cap, ignition rotor, spark plugs were replaced At 56926 miles, timing belt and water pump were done along with the thermostat, a bushing, and various belts. This is a non-interference engine, so a failed belt will not ruin it. At 64671 miles, shocks were replaced At 73857 miles the fuel accumulator was replaced At 74573 miles, the clutch, pressure plate, intermediate plate, throwout bearing guide tube, and clutch shaft were replaced At 79726 miles, transmission double band, anchor block, synchro rings, brake band, shift sleeve and gaskets were replaced. At 84702 miles the CV boots were changed. In 1999, unknown mileage: steering knuckle, mounting bracket, eccentric ball joint were replacedOn May-10-12 at 17:36:12 PDT, seller added the following information: At around 90K, the radiator was replaced. After this, there were no coolant leaks.
