Due to a legal issue with eBay (see disclaimer at bottom), I needed to modify the listing for my 2005 Smart Fortwo cdi. 2005 and 2006 were the only two years diesel Smart's were brought to North America, so this car is a fairly rare find. And being a DIESEL as opposed to the gas model (which is lucky to get 45mpg) this diesel model achieves between 55 and 65mpg depending on driving habits and weight. It comfortably can travel at 75mph but fuel efficiency does drop at the higher speeds. Also, this one has a 6 speed transmission as opposed to the 5 speed. Mechanically, there is not an issue with anything on this vehicle. Everything works as it should, however, all prospective buyers are encouraged to perform an inspection of the vehicle prior to buying. Personally, I would not hesitate to leave tomorrow on a trip cross-country if need be. I do drive the car daily and a slight increase in mileage may be expected. This is a "grey market" car. It is legally titled in the state of Ohio. I purchased it in New York, not Canada (where it was originally imported) so I have no knowledge on how to purchase Canadian vehicles and bring them across the border. Check with your state DMV about guidelines they have regarding this issue and contact me personally if you have any questions. The car is currently located in Ohio and I live just a 10 minute drive from our international airport here in Columbus (CMH). Airfare to CMH is usually very affordable and I can provide free transportation from the airport. If financing this purchase, please consult your loan officer for pre-approval prior to bidding.
