Vehicle Detail
Being a car guy all of my life, I have a bucket list of cars that I want to own, and this 1961 Bugeye Sprite was one of them. It's time to cut it lose so that I can put the proceeds of this car toward my next car. I purchased it 5 months ago while in Florida and had it shipped to my home in New Jersey. The person that I bought it from told me that he bought it in 2002 from a friend of his who had done a restoration on the car in 1991, but was due for a repaint, so he refreshed the car in 2004 to include new floor pans, and stripping the car to bare metal. There is no filler in the car that I am aware of, as I do see signs of panel replacements. This was just one of his toy cars so he didn't put many miles on it claiming to have put less than 500 miles on the car in his time of ownership. Since I purchased it, I serviced it with new fluids, installed a new battery, the SuperLite wheels with new tires and new rear shocks. It is a very decent driver quality restoration that I would rate a 2- which is how I like them so that you are not afraid to use & enjoy the car. It has the upgraded 1275 Austin Healey Sprite motor with the ribcase transmission a Weber 45 DCOE carburetor and front disc brakes . The only items that I know should be addressed is the hood struts that hold up the bonnet are not on the car and the tach is not working due to the drive not being on the generator, but I do have a replacement generator with drive included with the sale. The struts are inexpensive, but I was considering changing it to the front opening hood configuration. Also included is the factory hardtop, though it will need to be repainted as it wasn't prepped properly when sprayed. The soft top and side curtains are in good condition and included with the sale. I have several registrations dating back to 1983 as well as reciepts for much of the work performed over the years. Miles showing are not actual, but believed to be since completion of restoration. Buyer is responsible for transport. Please don't bid unless you truly want the car & are in a position to finalize the purchase should you be the winning bidder. Paypal deposit of $500 within 24 hours of sale end. Balance due in full within 7 days although I can store the car for a little longer should it be necessary. Although this is my personal car, it is titled to my dealership so I am obligated to collect New Jersey sales tax ONLY if you are a New Jersey resident, otherwise you would be responsible to satisfy the sales tax in your home state. On May-03-12 at 10:40:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Several more knowledgable Ebay members have contacted me to let me know that the Bugeye is not a Mark ll as the ad states, but a Mark l. I apologize for the confusion, but I am not as familiar with these cars as I am with other brands. Another point of interest may be that I was told that the car was built in July 1960.
