However, UNDERSTAND that these fees are ONLY applicable if the vehicle is registered in California and NOT applicable if registered in any other state. If still interested in registering and using in California, we COULD possibly request for either a waiver or reduction of these penalties. I've already tried this before and the DMV was willing to reduce the penalty by $200 at that time. However, this is treated on a case-to-case basis and at the discretion of the DMV employee handling the request.
