1970 Triple Black Challenger A66 Completely Documented California Original Paint Survivor A66 Performance Package This Dodge Challenger was an early build Los Angeles car, October of 1969. The A66 Package was one of the first Performance Packages on the Challenger platform and consisted of the following: - 340 4 BBL Engine - Power Bulge Hood with Hood Pins - Dual Exhaust - Heavy Duty Suspension (inc. front/rear sway bars) - Heavy Duty Brakes - 15 inch Rallye Wheels - Factory Rolled Fender Lips - Dual Chrome Sport Mirrors - Factory Tail Stripe Documentation Dealer Warranty Documents, California Registrations, California Title, Service Records and Complete Owner History. Ownership History The Challenger was first purchased by Atherton Lease Corporation and was used by one of their clients until 1971. Then, it was purchased by Lucille. Lucille Lois Orrell purchased this Beautiful Triple Black Challenger with just 16,700 miles on June 15th, 1971. She must have been a cool gal driving a Black Challenger in Northern California. I don't imagine there were many on the road. Lucille owned the Challenger for the rest of her life. After her passing in 1982, her son, William, inherited the Challenger. It was garage kept all of its life and William took impeccable care of the Challenger (driving it very little) until its sale in 2010. It retains the California title today. Rarity Black Pony Cars are extremely rare and highly coveted. In the case of Challengers approximately one-percent were Black. To find a California Survivor ... well, I don't think there are too many around. Originality The Challenger is a True Survivor and was Extremely Well-Maintained. - Original Factory Paint and Sheet Metal - Original Factory Vinyl Top - Original Factory Glass - Completely Original Factory Interior - Original Factory Date Coded Wheels - Original Factory Drive-Train - Still Wearing a Complete Factory Exhaust Note: The only bodywork performed on the car was the approximate 8 inch area pictured below. Apparently, Lucille binged her garage door at some point. Undercarriage The undercarriage will tell the story of most any car. The Challenger is completely original with the exception of wear items (e.g shocks, bushings, brakes which have been completely redone and Reproduction Goodyear tires with less than 100 miles). V.I.N. Stamp on the Engine Pad Differential still shows the Factory Inspection Marks as well as the original Axle Tag. That's why I love California Cars. Original Carburetor The Challenger will come with its original carburetor. It currently has an Edelbrock replacement that works beautifully so, I was reluctant to change it. Performance The Challenger runs and drives beautifully. The transmission shifts great and there is no evidence of oil consumption. I have gone through everything including the lights, switches, wipers, turn signals, etc. Everything works. The oil has been recently changed and the engine tuned up.
