The Thunderbird offered here was purchased new in Beverly Hills, CA on June 25th, 1956 and has remained in sunny Southern california since. The original family owned the car from 1956 through 2006, the second owner through 2009 and it now belongs to its third owner. The car was purchased midway through restoration in 2009 and was completed by Prestige Thunderbirds of Santa Fe Springs, CA. A total of $65,698 was spent on the restoration. All receipts of work performed accompany the car, as does a copy of the original 1956 title, and a complete history of the car from new. Several interesting things were done during the restoration to enhance the drivability, performance and reliability of this Thunderbird. Firstly, the unique Lavender Mist color scheme was chosen to set the car apart. A custom built 351 windsor, cleverly disguised as an original 312, featuring an edlebrock intake manifold and a holly 4bbl carburetor producing well over 300hp was installed. Electronic ignition was used as was a conversion to an alternator both for better performance and reliability. Then power front disc brakes were professionally installed along with an oversized master cylinder and brake booster for sure footed stopping power. A Ford 3 speed C4 automatic was utilized for its smooth and sure shifting. The entire vehicle was gone through from the ground up. All brand new suspension components, wiring, trim, interior, glass, chrome were redone to ensure that the car looked and performed without flaw. A smaller billet steering wheel was used and the seat tracks extended to accomadate drivers of all heights. This is a wonderful thunderbird for the collector looking for a unique addition that can be reliably and comfortably driven and shown almost anywhere.
