Up for auction is a 1987 Mustang GT. This is a factory scarlet red hatchback, with gray GT cloth sport seats. 5.0 liter, 5 speed manual transmission. Factory power windows, air conditioning, power steering and brakes. The 1987 Mustang was the first year for the new look on the FOX body platform. The GT had a unique look all its own, from the fog lamps in front, to the Mustang GT areo skirts down the sides that wrap around the back with a unique rear bumper cover. In the rear the large open rear wing, was also a GT only feature. The taillights were the cheese grader style and painted body color, again only on the GT. The car for sale here has all GT items still in place and retains a very original appearance both inside and outside, which is becoming quite rare. The engine is still very stock down to the speed density intake system only on 1987 and 1988 models. The Mustang has just gone through an overall freshing up. Outside the paint was re-applied, new headlights, marker lights, fog lights, emblems, beltline trim, rear hatch struts, and weather-strip was installed. The engine received a new water pump, alternator, battery, power steering pump, idle air control motor and clutch cable. The suspension received a remanufactured rack and pinion, new master cylinder, new brake shoes in the rear and new disk pads in front, and all new brake hoses. The interior is all original, just was taken apart and cleaned. The air had been converted over to 134a; we put in a new heater core and evaporator. Air blows cold. New windshield and windshield wipers have been installed. The aftermarket parts that I am aware of on this vehicle are a Hurst shifter, BBK headers and exhaust system, motorsports lowering coil springs, and an AM/FM stereo with USB input. Tires in the rear are new 235/60/15; fronts are in good shape and are 215/60/15, the wheels are the factory 15" GT turbines, with factory wheel locks. Areas that need attention are, the driver seat at the piping along the bottom left, starting to split. The power locks do not work. And a wheel alignment was not done after new tires and rack. This should be done to avoid any pre-mature wear on the tires. This car shows 19648, on the odometer, has to be 119,648. The title says EXEMPT. The car is very clean, looks to have been well kept over the years. The car is very fun to drive; clutch feels great as does the brakes and suspension. Great early FOX body Mustang and a GT.
