Vehicle Detail

I have not completely finished the restoration yet. Car runs and drives superbly but there are a bunch of little jobs that still need to be completed and I will list those later in this listing. Car is a 1965 Lemans and is numbers matching with a 326 and 2 speed automatic transmission. Car does not have a title (no titles in Georgia pre-1980s) but car is registered and has a license plate. This shouold not be a problem but check with your state just to be safe. If I sell the car I am supposed to turn the license back in but if you promise to mail it back to me I will leave on the car if you want to drive the car home. I did a frame off restoration on this car for use as a daily driver. Car has been done for a year now and been out of the shop 4 times. Twice for parades, one cruise in and once to take my grandson to the YMCA to go swimming. This limited usage and my job takes up all my time so I am going to sell the car. Restoration - I took car completely apart down to the bare frame to start the restoration. Original frame was rusted so I bought a replacement frame from a 65 GTO convertible. The replacement convertible frame is very solid and in excellent shape. Was sand blasted and then dipped then painted. Stainless steel brake lines and all new brakes. Front end is completely new. Will need an alignment but it steers straight with no pulling. Brakes are manual with new master cylinder. I have a new power master cylinder, new rotors, etc. setup that uses the original spindles that I will throw in if you want it. Car was originally a New York car so there was cancer on the car. New floor pans, new trunk, new quarters, etc. Quarters are very straight with one very small flaw - no waves. Front fenders are expensive and hard to find so I repaired these. There are a couple of small flaws but you have to really look to see them. Door gaps are pretty good but the driver door needs some minor adjusting. I included a picture to show the top is off a hair. I had a friend that was in a parade and asked if I would drive her. I had to hurry a little putting car together to make sure it was ready and ..... To fix you would have to pull the hood, fender and then the door off to make this adjustment. I just never got back to it. The original Lemans hood was shot and I had a GTO hood in the shop so I decided to use it. Added a few badges to match the hood. The convertible top and interior were professionally installed. Carpet on passenger side just below heater box is cut a little short and you can see the sound deadener underneath. Easy to fix just never got to it. Heater panel is not hooked up - cables are there but not connected to the heater box. Not going to drive when it is cold so I just left them. Dash has one opening that is missing the clock. Tried to decide if I wanted a clock or a tach and never followed thru so it is not completed. The hood hinges need a new set of springs as the hood opens and closes well but you have to push down on the back corners to get the hood to seat at the right level (common problem). Exhaust system is completely new with Flowmasters that sound really nice. Engine has 22,000 original miles and purrs. Distributor was gutted and Pertronix ignition system installed. Carb rebuilt, new water pump, gas pump, timing chain, etc. Transmission was professionally rebuilt. New tires. Car drives very smooth and is dependable. Every time I have started it to clean the sop it kicks right off. When the carb was rebuilt something dripped on the top of the fenders in a couple spots and damaged the paint but these are very small (less than 1/4" spots). Car is midnight blue and I have quite nearly a gallon of paint but instead of touching up I was thinking of repainting but never got to it. Car has manual steering. If this car sells I will be selling the complete power steering setup and a 69 GTO complete disc brake (minus rotors) setup. I will give buyer the opportunity to make an offer for these items if interested. When I took my grandson to the YMCA I filled up the tank. It is in the next town and about 25 miles one way. we made of couple of detours coming back so I figure it was about 60 miles. I filled up at the same station and it took 3.1 gallons. Still needs to be done. Glove box insert, install door rubber, hook up gas guage (wire - drill hole and connect), headlights have a ground issue (sometimes work right and sometimes only right side lights work), install shifter panel (the plastic P R N D L) piece and mount the console. There may be more but nothing that affects the driving or safety of the car. The biggest repair is not that bad. The windows go up and down but hit the aluminum strip at the top of the door before going all the way up. I have the original window regulators but never got around to really look at the problem as I planned on always having the top down. Some of the chrome has some pitting. The rear bumper is presentable but needs to be rechormed and I have a good core if you would want it. If you want to come look at the car please let me know.On Apr-24-12 at 02:38:33 PDT, seller added the following information: Couple of things I missed. No trunk mat. Did not paint inside trunk (spatter or ?). Gas tank and sending unit are new. Original radio but not hooked up and do NOT know if it works or not (probably does not). Needs radio antenna. Top is manual but have cylinders and do not have motor.
