Vehicle Detail

1956 Studebaker V8 Hawk. Up for auction is a nice 56 Power Hawk. Runs and drives nice. The floors and trunk are very good with no rot. Please see the pictures taken with the carpet removed. It is a factory heater delete car that originated in the south. The car runs and drives nicely. It is a fun, powerful, and fast car to drive, more than capable of any modern driving situation. It is 4bbl with dual exhaust. The original 259 V8 engine was replaced and upgraded with a Full-flow P-code 289 from a 1963 Hawk at some point in it’s past. The full-flow 289 has been dressed with correct 1956 valve covers and accessories. It has about 5,000 miles on a engine rebuild. It runs good with no smoke, and carries a true 35 psi oil pressure at hot idle. The front suspension has been rebuilt: kingpins, A-arm bushings, front springs, and sway bar bushings. All four shock absorbers have been replaced. The automatic transmission rear seal and rear axle pinion seal have also been replaced. There are no fuel or coolant leaks. Brakes work excellent. The body shows it’s southern heritage. The body and frame is in excellent shape. The floors and trunk are proof that Studebakers did come with floors standard when new! The paint on the car is nice and shiny and looks nice for a driver or cruise-in, but it’s an older amateur-ish paint job, and has been touched up since. There are a few little imperfections, bubbles, and dings here and there. Overall it is a very presentable car. The car is NOT a rot-bucket that was slobbered with bondo. It is a nice solid body and panels. The rocker panels are excellent with no repairs or rot. All the glass is good. There are no cracks. The windshield has some mild wiper scratches. The doors were disassembled, regulators rebuilt, and have all new glass channels, fuzzies, vent window rubbers, etc. The door glass rolls up and down perfectly. The interior is very presentable. All the lights, gauges, and horn work.. The chrome is nice and shiny, but the pot-metal parts do have patina and some minor pitting. The trunk lid could use adjustment, or possibly a new gasket. Don’t miss out on this nice 56 Hawk: it’s getting difficult to find a solid car like this one in a desirable drive line configuration that hasn’t been fully restored, and doesn’t need to be before summer driving! It’s not perfect, but it’s a very fun car that will turn heads anywhere you take it. Comes with original owner’s manual. Reserve set reasonably and cheaper then finding another, but there is not a need to give this car away. Comes with clear open Michigan title. Sold as-is, where-is. No warranties expressed or implied. Please remember this is a 56-year-old car that has never been fully restored. Must be picked-up within 35 days of receiving cleared payment. Must be picked up here, at my residence, zip code 49677. I cannot take it to a truck-dock. Full payment due within 7 days of auction end. Cash or bank cashier’s check ONLY. NO trades, personal checks, IOU’s, ex-wives, livestock, etc.. If paying with a cashier’s check it must clear to my satisfaction before car will be released.
