Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1971 VW Bus that we have had for several years. It is a fixer-upper but is in running condition. I have already done some rust repair behind the drivers front wheel. Up until five months ago this was my daily vehicle to go to work and back, so it is a reliable runner. I personally rebuilt the engine about two years ago, which was a complete tear down, new main bearings, new oil pump, NEW cranksshaft, reground lifters, new piston/cylinders, new exhaust valves, new exhaust, NEW carburator, the works. I have worked on air-cooled vw's for over 15 years. This bus needs more rust repair and the interior needs restored, but it is good stock for a restoration. Never wrecked, no serious frame rust. There are two split front seats, a 1/3 x 2/3 front bench which is correct for the bus, and a full width rear bench. The back tires are also new. The side windows are crank-outs from a Westfalia camper. The transmission is decent. This is a correct for the year 1600 dual-port engine. She'll do 70 on the interstate, just not uphill... Our reasons for selling are simply that we are working up money for buying a house, otherwise we would have no intention of selling it. If you have any questions please ask!On Apr-10-12 at 05:30:11 PDT, seller added the following information: *Update for interior pictures. I still have to finish getting my tools from behind the back seat, but Godzilla attacked. That auto transmission is not part of the auction, it's just sitting there. That one picture shows the "bad" spot of rust behind the drivers seat. I already rebuilt the outrigger structure and that is a strong repair now, but it still needs finished up and sealed. This has been a work bus after all.
