Vehicle Detail
This is an California car that appears to be 100% in original condition and is an ORIGINAL OWNER CAR with only 89,000 miles on the odometer. The 1982 Alfa Romeo Spider was the first year for the Bosch Fuel Injection and the last year before Alfa started adding all the body clading and spoilers. It is the ONLY year Alfa Romeo Spider that has the best Fuel Injection and the clean lines of the 2 series cars. The story behind the car is interesting. The owner had purchased the car in Southern California new and took extremely good care of it; up until recently when he became too old to drive the car. Before he put the car in his covered garage for storage, he flushed the cooling system and gave the car an oil change and pulled the battery to prevent it from leaking acid and ruining the spare tire area. Two years later he passed on and the property management company that owned his home took possession of the car through a lien sale. All the paperwork was done and the car is registered in California till 9/2012. Since there were no keys located after the owners death the car has not been started to verify how well it will run. The grounds keeper stated that the car was running before the owner put it in the garage. The coolant is still very green and the oil is still very clean just like when it was replaced a few years ago. This car was not left out in the hot sun to bake as is evident by the excellent condition of the interior. I have gone through the car best I can and here is what you should know: Vinyl top is in great condition and plastic window is not oxidized; just some Duct Tape residue that needs to be removed. It appears as if something got on the top but an area I tested came off when I wiped with a clothDash only has minor cracks not sun bleachedPassenger seat is in excellent condition; Drivers has one 2" tear and one 1" crack that could easily be repairedOriginal carpet is in great condition, no fraying and the area under drivers feet is almost perfectBack jump seat area is also in very good conditionAll locks, windows and gauges are intact and what can be tested is working fineTrunk area has no rust in spare tire area and all carpet and battery box are in placeCar has AC but of course I cannot verify it works properlyTires have very good tread but are a little dry rotted; should be replacedEngine spins freely as I allowed the car to coast down my driveway and popped the clutch to verify clutch, transmission and engine were not seized. No dents, very straight car, chipping of paint in some areasAll Chrome is in nice condition, no bad pitting.Windshield is clean and is the original with antenna built inMy feeling is that the owner took very good care of the car and simply parked when he could no longer drive.Perfect car for restoration due to it's history of maintenance and care. From what I can tell the car is only missing 2 things; keys and a battery. I have 100% positive feedback so please bid with confidence. If you have less than 10 feedback and a feedback rating of less that 100% you must ask me to bid. If you do not ask I will cancel your bid. Don't mean to be rude but some people don't realize that an auction is binding. I have the car listed for sale locally so auction can end at any time.
