1982 Porsche 928S Click Image for Photos 1982 Porsche 928S Introduced in 1977, the 928 proved to be everything and more that Porsche had promised. It combined the power and handling of a sports car with the comfort and design of a luxury touring car. Drivetrain: The Porsche listed here retains its stock 5.0-liter V8 engine and 5-speed manual transmission. The car was in running condition when donated, and has been started on a few occasions since we acquired it in 2003, but after several years of sitting it needs some attention to get it running again. We have not tried starting the vehicle recently and don’t know what issues it may have, other than those that might occur from sitting parked for a long period of time. Exterior: The body appears solid (no apparent rust or dents) and looks to be in good shape except for paint chips throughout the body and bubbling around the driver’s side quarter rear window. The headlights, rear lights and windows look to be in good condition, none are cracked or broken. The tires look like they have some tread left. Interior: Aiming for an elegant and luxurious feel, Porsche furnished the interior with leather seats, power windows, power locks and power seats. The leather interior on this car looks like it’s traveled the 175,000 on the odometer and shows quite a bit of wear and tear. The dashboard panel and gauges worked when the vehicle was donated, but they have not been tried recently. This Porsche also comes equipped with air-conditioning, cruise control and a Sony CD player with AM/FM radio. Overall: This Porsche 928S is a grey market import that was donated to the Petersen Automotive Museum in 2003 and has spent the past several years in an environmentally-controlled storage facility. The Porsche is currently registered under PNO in the state of California and has a clear title. The buyer assumes the cost of and responsibility for registering the vehicle, including the payment of any required fees, if applicable.
