Vehicle Detail

I am selling my Cruiser (nick-named Matilda) after much thought and deliberation. This was a Canadian vehicle that was legally imported into the US through a registered importer. That is no small feat, taking lots of time and money. The Cruiser is currently registered and Titled in California, all the paperwork headaches are done. This makes the Cruiser a very rare Toyota indeed, at least in California. The engine is the stock 3b naturally aspirated diesel mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. This is an classic diesel in that it has loads of low-end torque and is the definition of reliable, but lacks high-speed performance on the freeway. (a little slow on the interstate). Over the last 6 years I have driven "Matilda" all over the western US, through mud, snowstorms and other challenging conditions. She has NEVER let me down, not even once, all without burning so much as a drop of oil. Like other older Toyota 4x4's, the combination of straight axles, burly undercarriage, and a super reliable power-train equal a 4x4 that is very capable off-road. The interior is VERY clean, especially considering the miles. The Cruiser, as always, is currently running like a top, no mechanical issues to speak of. MPG is around 23-29. I have run many thousands of miles with biodiesel, and the fuel system is all set up for that task.(no natural rubber lines or seals) She is not set up for straight veggie oil.(SVO). -The BAD........Rust. One rear wheel well is rusted through, and the bottom of the body has a sprinkling throughout. The frame was particularly bad, and ugly too. I undertook a very large project about 4 years ago and replaced the frame with a freshly sand-blasted and painted frame, giving the cruiser a new lease on life. I decided not to cut out the body rust due to it not being structural, and I would recommend the same for any new owner. The floorboards are solid, the rust being confined to the wheel wells and bottom "rail" of the body and a couple of the doors. If you are nervous about rust, please do not consider this vehicle. It is a daily driver, not a show vehicle. As for Price, the same vehicle without rust would be worth somewhere around $16k. Reserve is $5k to compensate for the rust. The Car is located in the Tahoe area of California. Buyer will be responsible for pick-up, I will be as flexible as possible. In the interest of full disclosure, there are a couple of other minor issues. -rear wiper not working, water pump does work -Fuel filler door latch partly missing, lock still in place-cracked left tail light plasticOther goodies included- -workshop manual-original Toyota tool kit with carry bag Happy Bidding On Mar-26-12 at 18:37:18 PDT, seller added the following information: *additional info* no A/Ctires are BF goodrich all terrains, with about 1/3 life left in them, mounted on aluminum rims. original reserve didn't take with ebay, new reserve is $5,100. On Apr-01-12 at 16:08:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Sunday afternoon edit! If you have no feedback on ebay, please contact me before bidding.
