For sale, 1978 Ford F-250 Lariat extra cab SHORTBOX trailer special survivor that has spent its entire life in sunny, dry California. When was the last time you have seen one of these? They are getting tough to find and this one is a 2 owner truck with 80,000 miles and highly optioned with the Ranger- Lariat package, air, tilt, cruise, extended cab, automatic, 460-4v and the trailer special package! This is a very nice, original, rust free California gem. Drive and enjoy in its current condition or do a light restore and have that ultimate tow rig for your collectibles! Exterior – The paint shines nicely and is in good shape for being 30+ years old. The paint on the hood is thin in a couple spots and it appears to have had some paint work on the driver’s door and bedside at sometime. To be an absolute show stopper a paint job would be needed but in its current condition it is very nice and shows cool as a survivor! The box is in very nice shape and shows the truck has never really been used as a work truck. Included with the truck is a fiberglass topper (painted to match the cream body color) and an auxiliary fuel tank (mounts in the box and painted to match the main body color). The era correct running boards add a nice touch to the truck and are very functional. NO RUST! Interior – The interior is very, very clean but not perfect. The seat is in great shape and very comfortable but does have some cracking on the side panel on the driver’s side (can be seen in photos). Carpet is very nice! Door panels are in great shape as is the headliner and rear jump seats. The dash is nice but does have on crack right in the middle, bummer! Mechanical – The truck runs great and drives very nice. No annoying noises at all! The truck is very tight and tracks down the road perfectly. I purchased the truck in Northern California and drove it back to Southern California with no problems. A/C blows cold, cruise works great and the tilt is a nice option. The 460 runs nicely and pulls hard! No drips or leaks from this gem – Put it in your driveway with confidence! This truck truly is a find! ¾ ton extended cab long boxes are fairly easy to find BUT the extended cab short boxes are tough. To find one as original and nice as this truck is pretty special. With that said this is a 30+ year old truck and does have minor blemishes as noted: 1) Windshield is cracked 2) Antenna mast is missing 3) Imperfection on drivers side of seat 4) One crack in the dash 5) 30 year old paint showing a life of care with the wear even the most pampered are subject to. 6) Bakersfield is at an elevation 0f 300’. Without the modern day computer technology an “Altitude Adjusting” tune-up may be needed. 7) Signs of sidewall cracking on the tires Don’t miss this opportunity if you are in the market for a fully functional, very collectible truck!
