1954 54 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight 98 Sedan with Factory Air Conditioning!!!!! Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1954 54 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight 98 in Freshly Restored condition. That’s right this car has all new chrome, polished stainless, paint (inside & Out), correct headliner & Windlace, engine, brakes, etc in very good condition. The car is very well optioned including Factory Air Conditioning A/C, Wonderbar Radio with Foot Switch, Autronic Eye, Power seat, Power steering, Power brakes, E-Z-Eye glass, Heater, Courtesy Lights, Rear Speaker, Etc.If the condition and options of this car are not impressive, then the history of it to new is even more impressive. This car was bought new from the Oldsmobile dealer in Indio CA by a man who resided on Bronson Avenue in famous Hollywood California. The car was built at the South Gate CA General Motors GM Plant. The man was an avid hunter and would take trips to Utah to go hunting, hence the reason he ordered the car with Air Conditioning. The Oldsmobile was always serviced at Murphy Oldsmobile on La Brea Av just south of Wilshire Boulevard, right outside Beverly Hills, California. At Murphy Olds worked a young go getter mechanic named Lou and Lou really liked this 54 Olds, so when the owner wanted a new Oldsmobile in 1961, Lou bought the car from him with 60,000 original miles. Lou cherished this Oldsmobile and went camping with it all over the west. Incidentally Lou lived in Bronson Canyon in Hollywood, so the car stayed in Hollywood for the next few decades, Lou repainted the car, improved the engine and the hydramatic transmission, added the six way power seat from a 56 Oldsmobile and chrome valve covers (which are still on the car but painted over green). Lou gave the car to his nephew Lonnie in the 1970's, who kept the car and enjoyed it again in Hollywood Ca on Bronson Canyon. Before Lonnie moved to Oregon he sold the car. This car was found in Hollywood presumably from the person Lonnie sold it to, but this can not be confirmed. It needed a cosmetic restoration, so I got to it and ended with what you see here. The incredible thing is I met Lou by chance, he is still in California and is 92 years young and remembers everything about this car and he has seen it and been in it recently. Now here is what was done to this car, it has been completely repainted inside and out with high quality BASF RM Base Coat Clear Coat paint. The car was completely disassembled for painting and all glass was removed including the windshield, all trim was removed, the doors, hood & trunk lid were removed all jambs were repainted as well. The paint is very high quality in the original 54 Oldsmobile colors of Capri Blue (light) and Baltic Blue Metallic (dark). All the chrome was removed and professionally replated, as well as all stainless steel trim have been professionally polished. The car has excellent rocker panel stainless, I have not seen a set in this condition in a long time. The headliner, sun visors and windlace have been replaced with the exact correct materials, the rest of the interior was redone a few years back and is in good condition with a small tear on the front drivers seat. The car has an excellent dash pad (see pictures). The interior of the car was also disassembled including all of the dash trim and all window frames. The dash and all interior metal trim pieces were the blasted to bear metal and repainted with the same RM paint as the outside the Baltic Blue Metallic paint and hand rubbed out and reassembled. The Radio has also been restored and the wonderbar works and it plays music and works excellent. A lot of mechanical work has been done to the car such as the engine, transmission, all the brakes are brand new, as well as the suspension and knee action shocks. The car is in great running driving condition and is ready to be enjoyed. THAT’S RIGHT THIS IS A FULLY OPTIONED CAR IN FRESHLY RESTORED CONDITION. THE RESERVE PRICE IS SO LOW THAT IT WOULD ONLY PAY FOR THE CHROME AND PAINT!!!!!! This car drives excellent and stops on a dime. The car is in very good condition mechanically. The transmission has been gone through recently as well as the engine, the brakes have been gone through completely including a freshly restored master Cylinder and power booster. The suspension was redone including the knee action shocks, the radiator and engine cooling system were completely gone through, the wonderbar radio was also fully restored. The gauges including the speedometer work. All the glass is excellent and open and close as they should. The engine compartment is clean. The windshield channel rubber, all window channels and whiskers are brand new. Some of the side glass is new and the rest is good original. This car is currently registered in CA and has a clear title. I have a lot of pictures of this car so if you want to see something please let me know and I can email pictures. Restoration pictures are also available. I have tried to describe this vehicle to the best of my ability with pictures and words. Please review this information.
