Vehicle Detail

This is a Ford E250 cargo van. We bought it new in 02. We have used it for work everyday, and it shows. It has been maintained and ran great up until December. It developed a rattling noise in the motor (5.8) on the front passenger side. We figured it was the plastic timing chain guide or tensioners. We took it apart and found them intact. Further research suggested that it could still be a timing chain issue with the hydraulic tensioner. We had no way to test it and the only alternative was to put new ones in and reassemble the motor. It was such a pain in the a*& to take apart, that we decided not to take the gamble and picked up another van. THE GOOD: the trany (4R70W) was rebuilt on 7/10 for $2000, and has about 25,000 miles on it and it worked perfectly before the motor went. I personally know the shop that rebuilt it, and they do great work. Tires have about 1/3 life left, We replaced the side doors a couple of years ago ( old ones rusted out on the bottom and paint is an awful match) and are in great shape. It has never been in an accident, both front fenders, hood grille, doors are in great shape, windshield is relatively new and perfect. Some small dings, but no real dents. All the accessories worked, and no check engine light was on . Steering was tight and drove real nice. We always used Mobil One oil. Heat and AC worked great. THE BAD: Motor needs work or replacing . Drivers seat is torn and ugly, Passengers seat is just ugly. There is a rust hole in the floor on the passengers side, and in the pass rear behind the tire. The passenger rocker panel behind the tire is rusted thru, and the drivers side is bubbling. There are a few more spots that are bubbling but nothing too bad. Rear bumper has some dings and dents, and the plastic thing under the front bumper is cracked. The racks inside come with it, missing the drawers and a handle. They also are not pretty , but will work. The rain gutters have a few kinks in them from where we had ladder racks. It has no battery or spare tire. All the motor parts we took off will be in a box inside the truck. If you are looking for parts, or have an engine to swap this is your van. I would assume everyone that reads this knows it must be towed or picked up on a trailer. If the plastic timing chain guides were broken, I would have mad the repair and kept on driving this. It is sold as is, where is. We are located about 30 miles north of NYC. Feel free to come by and look it over.
