Vehicle Detail
2004 Acura TSX for sale with 162,xxx miles. We bought this car certified pre-owned from Los Gatos Acura in Los Gatos, CA in 2004. It had been their loaner / service car. Since then it has been adult-driven by non-smokers as a daily commuter car. It has an automatic transmission and is without nav. It has taken us to work daily, gone across the country twice (we've lived in CA, NC, and MD), and never once let us down or stranded us. It has been faithfully maintained on the severe service intervals as listed in the owner's manual. I would have no qualms getting in and driving this car absolutely anywhere. I have cared for this car like a jet - necessary preventative maintenance has always been performed. Details are as follows: Engine/Transmission/Driveline: Synthetic oil changes every 5,000 miles using Amsoil, Mobil 1, or Royal Purple. Valve clearance recently adjusted per 150,000 mile service requirement. 4 new iridium spark plugs installed at 142,000 miles. I use only premium unleaded fuel as per the owners manual. It will run on low test, but I don't feel the loss of power or economy is worth the trade. The car has plenty of power, and returns the same mileage it did when we bought it. I typically average 27-28 mpg on my commute in the DC area; my wife often averaged 31-32 mpg on her commute in more rural NC. It has a K&N air filter. The starter cable from the battery has been replaced; it ground against the heat shield and created a small short that would drain the battery if the car sat for more than 3 days. It was fixed under warranty at 85,000 miles and hasn't resurface since. The transmission has had fluid completely flushed and replaced along with the filter at 60,000 and 120,000 miles. It shifts smoothly and firmly. Suspension/Steering/Brakes/Tires: Has 4 AA traction rated Nitto tires with less than 10,000 miles on them. They were rotated and balanced last week. The alignment is perfect. The steering is tight and responsive. The mechanic that rotated the tires and rebalanced them also inspected the suspension and steering and stated that everything is in good condition. I have upgraded the brake lines to braided stainless steel lines and put drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic brake pads on the car. The stopping distance and response time is better than stock. I estimate around 50% of brake pad life remaining. Accessories/Interior: Hopefully you can see from the pics that I managed to scratch the leather on the driver's seat a little with the zippers on my flight suit. The floor mats are worn but serviceable. The windows and locks function properly, as does the cruise control. The HVAC works well, with the fastest defroster I've seen on any of the cars I've owned. The A/C had the compressor relay replaced last year and works great. It has a 6 disc CD changer with steering wheel controls that works well. It has a combination sunroof/moonroof that functions well. The chip that controls the backlight to the pedestal panel where the stereo and environmental controls are was replaced by Acura North America with an upgraded part that has worked well since its replacement at 115,000 miles. The seat heaters work, but feel like they may not be as hot as they used to be. Or they're just cool compared to our Jeep. Other than pictured, there are no rips, tears, or stains on the seats. They have been regularly treated with a mink oil product. Exterior/Body: The car does has rock chips commensurate with its mileage. The chromed plastic trim on the grill is peeling in a few spots (see pics). There is only one rust spot I'm aware of, it's on the corner of the hood by the driver's side headlight (see pics). It's fairly small. I've taken pictures of the paint flaws that I know of. What you can also see is that this car got washed regularly and waxed at least once every three months and that a mirror finish still exists, although the paint is by no means perfect. There's a mark above the driver's door handle and one on the hood that were amateurly fixed with touch-up. Some of the exterior plastic trim has faded. All weather seals function well and have been kept from drying out. The headlight lens covers have some fogging. The body is straight. The only accident it's been in was when I ran over the top of a dead deer in NC. It only required replacement of the plastic undercladding for less than $250. If you have any questions or want pics of something else, please ask. I can meet you at the airport or Union Station to deliver the car if you like. Have no fear driving it any distance (though you should change the oil in about 2300 miles). It is a solid, dependable car that does have some wear but also still has a substantial service life left. We're downsizing our fleet and it lost out to the 4wd SUV. Car is sold as is, where is - no warranty expressed or implied and all the other standard grasdeux.
