Vehicle Detail

Reserve set at $7000. For buy it now, call me. I reserve the right to end early since its listed locally and this is a low price. Favorite car of all time. Its very hard to find TRUE manual transmision car and one that doesn't have the frame rust for under $10K. NO frame rust in torque boxes, rails, shock towers, rear window, fender wells, etc. Restoration about 15 years ago (by previous owner). Added positraction and 3.50 gears two months ago (professionally installed). Very good running, rebuilt, non-original 302 V8 from 1971 Ford with aftermarket intake, carb, distributor; original 3 speed manual top loader transmission that was just rebuilt last month professionally. Runs and drives great. Dual exhaust, factory exhaust manifolds. No AC or vent car. Heater and defrost work great. Interior very good except small rip in the back of rear seat (only visible from outside rear window). All gauges and electrical lights work. Headlights close and turn signals function correctly. Windows and doors all open and close correctly. Dash has no cracks, all pieces in good shape. Door panels perfect. Seats and carpet in very good shape. Wipers work, rear backup lights and maplights work. Manual windows/locks, defroster and heat (no vents!), no A/C, cruise control, power brakes and steering, original steering wheel, all gauges present and working except spedometer. Has a radio from late 60's or early 70's and the dash has NOT been cut. Body in very good condition. Paint looks good in the photos but is about a 15 footer. Poor job finishing out high dollar paint, but straight body. Two small rust spots (1") on exterior door panel. I tried to show well in the photos as well as underneath the spots on the door. If you are looking for a great car to start with, this is perfect. You won't have to spend a bunch on body work or try to find a parts car. You can get straight to the fun stuff (motor and paint) and can drive it around right now. Look in the photo with the heater controls - you can see the paint was wet when the door was closed. This is an example of the poor quality. The guy must have been color blind too since the paint is a stoplight green and the interior is olive. It looks like he must have done the paint work himself. Needs to be long boarded really. The car must have been apart when he painted since everything has been covered - trunk in and out, under the hood, inside the car, etc. New tires (not same ones pictured but only 500 miles one them and still white letter) and 1 year old SS Cragar rims. Drum brakes function correctly including parking brake. Trunk in great shape. All trim and chrome present as shown. I do have a set of GT wheels that come with the car (need painted). Selling only since I have two 68 cougars and the other one is already finished. Needs: Tilt away column needs vacuum. I'd planned on taking down the paint and refinishing as well as upping the motor to 351. Could use new rubber seals in the vent windows. Tires too wide for the rear so they are hitting the left side on big bumps and driveways - really need a tighter suspension or narrower tire. Will deduct $500 off sale price if I keep the wheels and tires. I have 68GT steel wheels and hubcaps that you can have. You get other tires mounted to them and drive it away. Rebuilt transmission is warranteed for 2 years from Jan - making a whine in reverse like not fully disengaging clutch. Call with questions - 913-709-0140, located in Kansas City Metro, Louisburg, KS. Have clear title in hand, correct VIN.On Feb-20-12 at 09:53:31 PST, seller added the following information: I have also put in new leaf springs, shackles, and front coil springs. Checking on tires for the back to stop the rubbing. On Feb-20-12 at 11:09:57 PST, seller added the following information: For those asking about the rims/tires: On one of my cougar’s these are perfect. On the green one they are ½” too wide of a tire in the back if the suspension travels down too far. I would suggest 225’s instead of 245’s. In fact, it's at the dealer now and they are testing these. I’d also just go with 15x7’s all around instead of the 15x8 on the back and 15x7 in front. My other 68 has 245 rear and 235 front with no issues. The 235 fronts didn’t fit without rubbing the fenders on this one (just barely). It seems to be all about overall setup of the suspension.
