1973 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow LWB Garage Stored Since 2008 Runs and Drives Fantastic Last Service At Rolls Royce Dealer About 900 Miles Ago was $7500.00 Will Need a Bit of TLC and Re-Commissioning ABSOLUTE SALE............................NO RESERVE Greetings to All!! imotors is quite pleased to offer yet another unique Rolls Royce for your pleasure. This is a 1973 Silver Shadow Long Wheel Base(LWB) Saloon. It is finished in Silver Sand over Walnut with a Dark Brown Everflex Hood(roof). It has Beige Leather with Dark Brown Piping and Dark Brown Carpets. 1973 is the final production year for the small chrome bumpers on USA cars(Rest of the world retained them until 1976). I received a call from a friend who has a repair shop that services European cars. He tells me that one of his customers has a Shadow that has been sitting in a garage for years(It was last Pa inspected in 2008). She had it towed to his shop for repairs. Unfamiliar with Rolls Royce's they were unable to help her, and called me. Come take a look.....she wants to sell it!! When I picked it up, it looked quite forlorn. Filthy dirty outside from long term garage storage. The upper Silver Sand colour looked like flat primer, which is what lacquer does when neglected. Of course it didn't run....It had no fuel delivery to the twin SU' Carbs. We installed a rebuilt SU dual electric fuel pump, charged the battery, tested the quality of the old fuel(Drained a bit and sniffed....was OK),and surprisingly so, it fired right up!! The Amazing thing is that it runs Beautifully!!! Someone was kind enough to install a modern gear reduction starter, so it starts right up Every time!!! Choke works as it should so the car starts with 1 pump of the gas and a twist of the key. Let it warm up on fast idle for a few, stab the throttle, and it settles down to a nice smooth idle. I have been driving it for the last few days locally, about 4 miles each way to and from home. It actually runs and drives quite nicely. The new suspension is a dream!!! It WILL need some TLC. Some re-commissioning(SERVICING)is highly recommended before doing any driving!!! Looking underneath I can see that all of the shocks and springs have recently been replaced, as has some of the exhaust. Tyres have good tread, but have some dry rot on sidewalls and are NOT recommended for driving. There are photos below of the last Repair Order from Ascot Imported Cars, our now defunct Rolls Dealer, that totals over $7,500.00 and includes a brake accumulator overhaul. At the very least, this car will need a brake flush, and the hydraulic hoses replaced. The rears are originals(40 Years Old), and the fronts are older replacements. As mentioned above, the tyres need replacing due to age. Windows go up and down. Radio works but doesn't hold memory. Heat works good. A/C has been converted to R134, and will at the least need a charge. Like all classic and collectible automobiles, our Rolls Royce is being sold AS IS, Where Is, with NO Warranty expressed or implied!!!. This is one of those cars that looks a whole lot better in photographs than in person!!!! While the Walnut(lower Colour) seems to be in good condition, and shined up very nicely, the Silver Sand( upper colour) will need to be refinished. While it looks shiny in the pictures, it is in fact several different shades due to over polishing and age. Professionals would say the paint is burned from extensive buffing. There are some photos below, but certainly not enough to depict the actual condition of the Silver Sand colour!! As mentioned many times, the Silver Sand looks MUCH better in photos. It is very blotchy, and will need re-done!! Our 1973 Silver Shadow makes a stately appearance!! Silver Sand over Walnut is quite the popular colour, and the choice among many. Notice how nice and level it sits, due to the renewed road springs and shocks all around! In this Photo you can see a small "ding" on the front bumper, passenger side. Remaining chrome and brightwork are in very nice condition with no noticeable rust or rot. As I'm sure you all know, the Flying Lady is the most famous in the world! The Silver Sand has this appearance close up on the entire upper portion of the car. You will notice in the following photos that inside, our Silver Shadow shows very nicely. We have had the seats dyed to freshen their appearance. The rear had some stiffness, and tears on the passenger side. We've had these areas replaced/repaired where necessary, and also dyed to match. While all of the hand made wood is intact, the urethane clearcoat finish is deteriorated, and/or missing some pieces on all four doors. Re finishing is recommended, but certainly not necessary. Some minor wear to the drivers footwell carpet. Leather Seats are nice and soft!! Dash Pad is damage free!! Note that wood is good....Urethane needs to be stripped and re finished! This is the area of the rear seat that we had repaired! Long Wheel Base............Loads of room to stretch your legs !!! I have been driving this Silver Shadow for the last few days in order to give you a complete evaluation on it's performance!! It runs and drives very well, and rides smooth as glass! Windows go up and down(Typically slow going up), cruise works, as does power antenna and radio. Heat is hot, A/C probably needs to be charged. Interior lights work as designed as do wipers and washers. Jenson sound system is functional, however does not hold memory(fuse?). I've probably driven it more in the last few days than it's been driven since 2008! Large tools are present, small ones are not! Hood Pads are MIA!!! Fluid is full, but should be flushed.
