Vehicle Detail

Well you either love 'em or you hate 'em because you're looking at this: Here's an all original (except the normal stuff) '87 Aero Coupe. It was painted just before I purchased it on 12/19/2006. It's been my daily driver until now. I've replaced the gas tank, water pump, fuel pump, alternator, plugs and wires at various times in the last 5 years. Tires are three years old and not so great. Exhaust is pretty much gone from the mufflers back. The only major rust area is the passenger rear floor pan - it's about gone as seen in the photo. T-tops are great, all the glass is intact. It has every option for 1897 with the exception of a limited-slip diff. I have the original radio and the radio in it is from a 1989 Cavalier - you get both - neither work anymore. Heater fan does not work from the dash switch - works if hooked direct to power. A/C quit a year ago, cruise never worked since I owned it. It quit while driving like someone reached up and turned off the key - seems to have no spark. I think the problem lies in the steering column (loose wire or ignition switch) or I suppose it could be the coil. I have not thoroughly attempted to diagnose it. When it's running, it will need a timing chain and a valve job - normal stuff for a small block. (smokes from a stop after warm, typical Chevy Small Block timing cover scraping noise for about the last 15,000 miles) At the time it quit it sill had plenty of power to cook the tires and it still kicks your butt shifting to second and third gears. In case I wasn't clear, it is NOT currently running. Overall the body is not bad (yet) but it's getting away from me. The interior is fairly complete, missing some plastic door pull-strap parts and various small items. The rear deck area totally needs re-covered, seats and trim are OK, back-seat nearly mint. This is a beautiful old classic in great condition for a frame-off or put a few hundred into it and just drive it for 25 more years. The milages listed is what's showing, could be 100,000 more could be 200,000 more - at what point does a SB timing chain start to scrape? 150 or 250? I don't know but I doubt its 350. Shipping/pick-up is the buyer's responsibility. Minimum 1/2 payment through paypal at auction close; the COMPLETE balance upon pick-up - no exceptions. Please email with questions - the vehicle may be seen daily in Abingdon Virginia. On Feb-21-12 at 09:23:23 PST, seller added the following information: I need to get this sold so I've lowered the reserve price. 2/21/2012 12:15PM Eastern.
