Vehicle Detail
1972 Buick Skylark GS Stage 1 455. This car started life as a factory GS 350 with turbo 350 transmission but has been painstakingly converted to appear as a factory Stage 1 including an original TS code 1971 Stage 1 engine. It has power steering, power brakes, factory a/c, rear window defroster, 3 spoke sport steering wheel, factory tach and rally gauge package, bucket seats and console, recently rebuilt turbo 350 trans and 10 bolt 3.42 posi rear. The car is rust free and has a beautiful 10 year old basecoat/clearcoat paint job that shows very well. The car was removed from the frame when it was painted, but I would NOT consider it a rotisserie or nut and bolt restoration. It is rather a super clean, highly detailed car that will do very well at local shows but is not too over the top to be driven. The color chosen is a later model color that is very close to the factory Stratomist Blue. I purchased the car 6 years ago from Indiana and have been returning the car back to factory during my ownership. I'll post a link to over 100 pictures that are in chronological order detailing it's evolution since I purchased it 6 years ago. Some of the things I've done to the car are: located a pair of clean original inner fender wells (car already had a clean radiator core support), purchased a parts car to gather alot of the missing a/c parts, new a/c compressor, new drier, new a/c box for the exterior firewall, new heater core, located and installed correct a/c pulley's and brackets, new engine wiring harness, edelbrock B4B aluminum intake manifold and restored 800 CFM Quadrajet carb, new throttle cable, restored 1970 Stage 1 air cleaner assy with new foam seals and decals, all appropriate underhood decals, new correct Stage 1 chrome valve covers with part number stamping, new Delco Moraine stamped brake booster, new master cylinder, new water pump, thermostat, hoses with factory style tower hose clamps, new delco drive belts, new delco alternator, correct a/c cooling fan and new heavy duty fan clutch, new 3 core aluminum radiator, custom 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust system with v-band collector's and Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers, new Addco heavy duty front and rear sway bars, boxed lower rear control arms, MSD Billet distributor and 6AL ignition box, new front seat covers from Legendary Interiors, new headliner, new insulation/dynamat and sound deadener, like new set of 5 G60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, 4 15x7 factory rally wheels, fully detailed rust free trunk with restored jack assy, new trunk mat, spare tire cover and jacking instructions, all new exterior emblems, all new door, trunk and body weatherstripping. I just completed a 500 plus mile trip and the car performed flawlessly. I've put a few thousand miles on the car since I've owned it without any issues whatsoever. The hard work is done, all that is left are a few minor details. Even though the a/c system is 95% complete, it is currently not blowing cold. I have an old set of a/c lines that will hold pressure, but I didn't use or hook up because I planned on putting new. There is one a/c duct hose that is missing, other than that the a/c is complete. The car has a factory am radio that is not hooked up (there are currently no speakers either). The rear defroster, wipers and the horn don't work (the systems are complete, I just haven't diagnosed why they aren't working) . I also have not gotten around to hooking up the factory gauges since installing the new engine harness (car has aftermarket mechanical oil pressure and water temp), but the speedometer works(needs to be calibrated) and the tach worked with the old harness. The bumper's on the car are showing some wear and I feel should be re-chromed to match the condition of the rest of the car. The new heater core needs to be hooked up (not a priority in Florida). I will include a new set of tubular front upper and lower control arms that I haven't gotten around to installing. I also have a set of dog dish hubcaps that I bought for the car that I will give to the buyer if desired. I regret having to sell this car, but current finances leave me no choice. I've put a lot of time, money and effort into it to get it to this point and haven't really gotten to enjoy it. I may have left something out, so please contact me if you have any additional questions. If you wish to bid on this car and have 0, negative or feedback below 10 please contact me prior to placing a bid or it will be cancelled.
