Vehicle Detail

This is a Custom 1950 Chevrolet Pickup Truck. I believe it would be considered a 3100 Series Truck. It is Titled as a 1949 GMC. With the modifications, I cannot tell if it actually started out as a GMC or if it just has GMC parts or Frame. I understand these trucks are very similar, maybe it doesn't make a difference. The story I got was that this Truck was a Show Truck in the 1970s. With the extensive modifications made to the body, I do not find that hard to believe. If you recognize this truck from it's show days and have pictures, I would love to see them. Please email! The Top of the Truck has been chopped approximately 4". The chop job was done well and is a testament to someone's fabricating skills. The Top had a Sun Roof in it, at one time. This is no longer with the Truck. I was going to replace it with a modern Sun Roof, but you can replace it or have a piece of glass cut for it or fill it in, which ever you prefer. The Original Sun Visor has been Louvered. The Doors have been Suicided and the Door Handles have been shaved. When the Truck was being shown it had Blue Fuzzy material for Interior and Dash Board. All of this is gone, except for the Gas Pedal. The Truck has a Vintage 70s Style Octagon Steering Wheel. The Truck has a Vintage Set of White General Motor's Style Bucket seats. The Driver's Side Windshield is Cracked and the Passenger's Door Glass is Cracked. The rest of the Glass is good. The Front End has been heavily modified and now has Quad Square Headlights that I think came from a mid-70' Chevelle. There are two Frenched Antennas on the Driver's Side Fender. The Bed has been modified. The Tail Gate is Welded closed and a Fiberglass addition made to both sides. The Tail lights are housed in the new fiberglass addition. The Engine is a Small Block Chevrolet 400. It is apparently modified with a larger than stock Cam. It has headers and no exhaust beyond that. The Engine starts easily. The Carburetor needs some work, so it idles rough. I will be tinkering with this and may have it running well, before the end of the auction. The Transmission is a Turbo 350. It goes into gear and appears to be in good condition. Since I haven't been driving it, I am not 100% sure about it's condition. The Differential is a 9" Ford. The Front end is a stock Straight Axel with Automobile Hubs that give it a 5 Lug Bolt Pattern. The Rims are Aftermarket pieces. Although I failed to get them in the pictures, I do have the Center Caps for the Wheels. All of the Tires look good. The Fronts are very good, the rears are questionable. The Frame is very solid and Rust free. This Truck came out of Georgia and probably never had any rust issues to deal with. The Body is also pretty solid and rust free. The Running Boards are pretty solid. They have a few dents and dings, but aren't badly damaged. I am including pictures of the Cab Corners and undersides of the Doors. These appear to be the places where these trucks rust out, so you can see their condition and make a better judgement about the condition of the Truck. This Truck is running, but has no Brakes. I haven't looked for them, but the Brake parts can probably be purchased through your local auto parts store. The Truck has wiring for starting and running the Engine, but the rest of the wiring is probably all missing. I have not found a switch for turning on the Lights and I haven't seen switches or wiring for Brake Lights. There is still some work to be done on this truck, but with a little work, it would be an awesome truck! The Fabrication for chopping the Top alone would cost $2500.00 to $3000.00. I am listing this Truck without Reserve. It will sell to the highest bidder. I am posting good pictures and a detailed description and will try to answer any questions through email. I may be able to assist with delivery, for a fee, within a few hundred miles of Canton, Ohio. On Feb-08-12 at 17:02:59 PST, seller added the following information: Rebuilt Carburetor and now Engine starts and Idles. It sounds very strong and the Transmission is working. I cannot drive it yet, because it has no Brakes. I am going to start working on the Brakes now. The Pedal and Master Cylinder are in the Truck and it should have Brakes by the time the auction ends.
