Vehicle Detail
1985 Toyota Supra MkII 5-speed second owner recent bodywork and paint Here's a very sharp looking '85 Supra with only 116K+ miles across 2 owners. I bought this with just under 100K miles from the original owner in 2007 and my son and I poured a lot of parts and work into it to give him something classy to drive during his high school years. He's been off to college for a while now and I've moved to a smaller place... so there's nobody to drive the car, nowhere to park it, and it's time to pass it along to the next lucky owner. The most obvious thing we did to the car was get every last bit of bodywork done and a fresh coat of Volvo "Laser Blue" paint on it. This was no putty-n-spray slapdash operation, this was $7500 worth of cutting and welding and priming and painting by a local well-respected custom shop. I documented the progress during the work, and you can see it in all its gory detail by clicking on the links at this page: http://backglass.org/duncan/supra/paint/ Beyond that we went over the car front to back putting it in nearly new mechanical condition. A partial list of things we did (I'm sure I'll forget some): Rebuilt or replaced all brake and clutch hydraulics, including new steel-braid-wrapped flexible lines in all locations. All new brake pads and rotors, including new parking brake shoes. New clutch and pressure plate. Brand new gas tank (one of the last remaining NOS ones in the country) and gas pump. Brand new aftermarket exhaust. New rear springs. New side molding strips. 5 new tires. Refinished 5 wheels (though to be honest, the clearcoat job they did was sub-par and some of them are looking a little ragged again :-( :-( ). New little vacuum valve in the heat ducting system that makes it work right and not go psssssh! pssssssh! all the time. New Sony CD player with iPod interface. Recharged the A/C system and it was chilllly! (though I just tried it before writing this ad and it's not working. Sigh.) New battery, alternator, all new belts. New water pump. New chrome-plastic edging on the seat backs. New leather shift boot and console lid cover. It also comes with piles and piles and piles of new and used spare parts, if you want them (bring a pickup truck!). Stuff we got as spares, stuff we got but never put on yet, etc. 5 more used wheels and tires. Brake and clutch rebuild kits. A complete set of silicone suspension bushes. A new catalytic converter. Oil filters, gas filters, gaskets, bolts, and on and on. Basically this is about as good a basic near-stock 1985 Supra as you're going to find. All the hard work has been done and you can drive it anywhere with confidence. Even let your kid drive it to high school! It's sporty and fast, but not crazy-turbo-nitrous fast, and sticks to the road very well, so not likely to get them in too much trouble :-) If you're in the area you're welcome to come see it. If you're not in the area and need more pictures of something specific just let me know and I'll add them to the auction. Clear title, ready to sign over after payment. I'm pretty flexible on how it gets paid for, but the title doesn't get signed over and the car doesn't leave my possession until it is paid for, of course! I'll work with whatever auto shipper you want, if you need to get it shipped. It's perfectly drivable and there are some big parking lots nearby, so there should be no problem getting it on a big transport truck. ...and here are some glamour shots I took right after the paint job was done...
