Vehicle Detail
Up for bids is my 1995 Jeep Wrangler 4 cylinder, 4x4. I have owned this Jeep for nearly a year now and have done a substantial amount of work to it. Unfortunately I don’t have time to drive it as much as I thought I would and that is why I’ve decided to sell it. I searched for several months before I bought this Jeep because I wanted a mostly original YJ and also wanted one with minimal or no rust. Most of the YJ’s I looked at had SIGNIFICANT rust, more rust than I have ever seen on a vehicle of this age. I bought this Jeep from a dealer close to my location, who had bought it from the original owner. The body and frame on this Jeep are EXCELLENT with very minimal to no rust. Any areas that had any surface rust I sanded, scraped and painted. The Frame is solid as is the body. I scraped and painted the front floor pans on the inside as there was some surface rust starting and I didn’t want it to continue. The Jeep has been garage kept since I have owned it and had to have been garage kept by the original owner, based on its condition. The original owner’s manual is included and even the original window sticker! The engine runs good and has good power, it makes some minor mechanical sounds, nothing unusual or unexpected on a 170,000 mile 4 cylinder. No knocking, leaks or anything like that. It does not smoke or use any oil and has good oil pressure. The transmission is in fair condition, it shifts OK. 2nd gear can be a bit finicky if you shift too quickly with it, but if you take your time it goes right into gear without any issues. A 4 cylinder Jeep is not a race car obviously, so it’s a non-issue for me. The 4x4 system also works as it should. The original radio is still in the dash, but it quit working a few months ago. If the pictures don’t do it justice, I recently had a co-worker remark to me “What year is your Jeep, I thought it was brand-new, but then saw the Classic tag!” So don’t let the mileage scare you. It could very easily pass for 70,000 miles. I have been turning wrenches for over 20 years now and have learned that condition is more important than mileage. You could have a 50,000 mile vehicle that looks like it has 150,000 miles and vice versa. The interior is all original and in very good condition, the factory radio is still in the dash, but it quit working recently. There is a small tear in the driver’s side seat, but the carpet and dash are all in very good condition. It has a Best-top replacement top on it that is in good condition with no rips or tears I am aware of. It has the original aluminum wheels on it and about 5 months ago I had brand new Firestone Destination A/Ts installed (31/10.50/15’s) The tires alone were over $600.00. Around that same time, I installed a Old Man EMU 2.5” suspension lift kit ($1,200.00) that included the transfer case drop kit, 4 new shocks, all new frame and shackle bushings and 4 new leaf springs. I also installed Rough Country sway bar disconnects as well. The steering wheel is slightly turned right when going down the road, but the Jeep tracks straight. I did adjust the drag link to get it as close as I could, it should probably have a 4 wheel alignment, but I haven’t had the time to get it to the alignment shop. I also serviced the front and rear differentals, transmission and transfer case, installed a new fuel filter as well. I replaced the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor and installed an ACCELL Super Coil, figuring the 170K mile original was probably getting tired. I also installed a new air cleaner, valve cover gasket as well and a new accessory drive belt. I installed a new oil pressure sending unit. There is some minor pulsation in the brake pedal when the brakes are applied so the front rotors may need to be turned or replaced if that bothers you, but it’s so minor I have not addressed it at this time. I had to fabricate another fuel filter protector plate as the OEM was rusted. The one I made is of thin metal because I did not plan on doing any serious off-roading. If you are going to off-road this Jeep, you will want to make a thicker one. None are available aftermarket as I searched extensively for one. The Old Man EMU lift kit is regarded as one of the best for the Jeep YJ’s and it does seem to be a very high quality kit. The lift is just enough to be noticeable, without being obnoxious, which is what I was after. I also installed a Dynomax exhaust on the Jeep, as the OEM exhaust was worn out. The Catalytic converter is gutted, so the exhaust is slightly on the loud side, but I like it that way. The Jeep is currently registered as a PA Classic Vehicle. Just before I purchased it in 2/2011 the dealer installed a new radiator, thermostat and flushed the cooling system so that is another good aspect of this vehicle. It’s inspected until 6/2012. I hold a current PA State Safety Inspection Mechanic’s license and have been over this Jeep and it’s in good condition with no glaring safety issues as far as I am aware. I am very meticulous with my vehicles and equipment, as evidenced by the photos. This vehicle is for sale As-is, Where-is with no warranties expressed or implied. Please do not bid on this vehicle unless you are serious about purchasing it and can complete the transaction. The transaction must take place in person and the winning bidder must pick-up the Jeep in person. If you do not have a positive feedback rating, your bid will be erased and blocked. I also reserve the right to end the auction early if I sell the Jeep locally. If you are the winning bidder, remember you have entered into a contract to buy the vehicle, I.E. “Congratulations, you bought the Jeep.” Please do not contact me after the auction ends and ask me if I can ship the vehicle, if someone other than yourself can pick it up for you, if I can wait a month until you get the money together for it, ETC. Please do not bid unless you have the funds to purchase the Jeep immediately after the auction ends. I will accept a Certified bank check from a bank local to my location for payment. A $500 deposit through Pay-Pal is required within 24 hours after the end of the Auction and the balance is due within 7 days after the auction ends. I may waive the Pay-Pal requirement depending on when you can complete the transaction. Thank you very much for your interest. If you have any questions, please contact me. If you’re looking for a good, solid, nearly rust-free, mostly original (IE, NOT off roaded) last year YJ, with a small suspension lift, this is the Jeep for you. I am confident you will not find a nicer YJ in this price range and not be disappointed if you are the winning bidder.
