Vehicle Detail
This is a 1982 Oldsmobile Diesel with 105,000 miles on it that has been in my family since November 1981. Bought new by my father, passed on to his sister (my Aunt) then to me. It had the engine replaced under warranty at 43,000 miles in 1987 at the GM dealer due to a head gasket. It has 62k on the current engine. It was parked for 4 years while my aunt was in the nursing home and I received it after her death. I drove this car from Twin Falls Idaho to Midland Texas. 1297 miles on under 2 tanks of fuel.It has aged paint, a small break in the right tail lens and needs belts and maybe a hose. The Heater works but the A/C works when it wants to. The issue is a vacuum valve behind the glove box (see pictures where i removed the box to find it). It got its front bumper hooked on a light pole base and almost tore off in the earl 90's in a sears parking lot so it does have a accident report due to sears. The car smokes a little mainly due to it being a diesel and lack of use. It has 4 new tires, 2 new batteries, new wipers, new vacuum pump, fuel filter and glow plugs. The Transmission is a TH350C which is the lock up torque converter model and the Governor on it dont always work right, again from 4 years sitting before I got it. I cleaned it out once and it worked well and then gunked up again. The tranny shifts great from 1 to 2 and then not always on time into 3rd. Trans shop said-Replace the governor! I just shift it manually! This car is 100% original, has a few quirks and issues but nothing a classic like this wouldn't have. I believe the fuel pump may be weak or going bad. It drove from Idaho to texas with no issues but it acts like it is either flooding or not getting enough fuel now. If I knew diesels I would keep it but I have no more kids at home and it needs a good owner who loves these like my dad did. It will need work but I don't know how much to make it perfect. A few times this car would not start due to some relay. Mechanic said it was a cheap part but did not detail which one or where it was! Go figure! Car is from the high desert of Idaho, 100% rust free and the interior is almost perfect. The car is in Midland Texas, I will not ship and you must come get it either by trailer or tow/drive it to where you want it.
