Vehicle Detail
All original 1979 IH Scout II Traveller 4x4. low milage, all original. Has 345 V8, 4 barrel carb, Automatic, 4 wheel drive, Tilt wheel. Has factory Air conditioning, cruise control, am/fm radio which does not work now. Removable fiberglass roof. Typical Scout rust though not as bad as some. Front tires in really good shape back tires are less than 1/2 tred and weather cracked. Currently titled and licensed and driven occasionally Warning-- it gets really bad gas milage. Could use further carb tuning. If I should keep it I'd buy a fuel injection and HEI distributor kit for $1300 make it a much more modern vehicle. (Or there is a scout with fuel injection for sale on CL locally for $1000-- good parts vehicle?). The traveller version of the Scout has an 18" longer wheelbase and has more cargo space than regular Scouts. I think with the longer wheelbase trailer towing is also better. It has a class III hitch and electric brakes but I don't know if they work. I bought it from the second owner in Gill, CO. The prior (first) owner was his brother-in-law. feel free to email with questions. No reserve. No warranties or guarantees. For sale locally, I reserve the right to end sale early . I decided I should take a 4x4 to work, I took the Scout (My F250 didn't start-- silly error on my part) . Used starting fluid to get it going, stalled once on way in. 4x4 barely spun a wheel hubs locked, used 4 High (does have open rear diff) . Shifted in neutral or downshift prior to turns. Found when I downshifted it seems to get more boost from brakes. After work I started it with a shot of starting fluid. I was told at a road stop my taillights weren't working So, in addition to above the water temp gauge don't work or it needs a new thermostat, the truck was running nearly 1/2 hour never felt warm. Heater blower works, wipers work but not the washer. night light in speedo sometimes work. Dimmer switch works. Radio, cruise control doesn't work.
