Vehicle Detail
This car was purchased from the original owner about 30 years ago. In the early 80’s, it underwent an extensive body restoration and repaint. In 2010, it underwent a fairly complete mechanical restoration after an extended period (15 years) of storage in a heated basement garage. The restoration included replacing the original “Prince of Darkness” Lucas wiring harness. All hydraulics were either professionally rebuilt or replaced. All break lines were replaced. New top, although this car never travels in inclement (or cold) weather. New BFGoodrich Advantage T/A tires and tubes with less than 250 miles. This car is an amazing drive. You are traveling back to a time when driving commanded your attention. No cup holders here. But your reward is a true driving experience where you, the car, and the road become essential components of the ride. She is light and nimble with horsepower to spare. She has a four speed transmission with working electric overdrive. She has the soul modern mass production sports cars surely lack, and she could only have been built in the 1960’s Also includes the unrestored hard top. Car sold as is, where is. The Car passed New York State inspection last fall. Please feel free to ask questions, or to inspect before bidding. Pre 1973 motor vehicles registered in NYS do not have a title certificate, just a valid NYS registration. On Jan-25-12 at 21:25:39 PST, seller added the following information: In addition to those items already described above, the 2010 restoration included the replacement of the steering rack, tie rod ends and rear wheel bearings. All fluids were flushed and replaced. The 1980's body restoration included the replacement of the floor pans, trunk pan, inner and outer sills, castle sections, rockers, gas tank, jack points and front right fender. Both rear quarter panels were repaired. She has always been red, but we can not be certain that the original color was tartan red. We will add pictures of the undercarriage and interior details later this week.On Jan-29-12 at 18:53:37 PST, seller added the following information: Bidders and Watchers: Ebay regretfully informs us that we are not able to upload additional pictures after the first bid is placed. So, today we put together a video for You Tube which should answer many questions. This includes extensive footage of the undercarriage. Only problem: a missing IEEE 1394 cable. As soon as we replace the missing cable, we will upload the video, and update the listing with the link. Many have asked about the following: Yes, we have the headrests. The compression was checked, but because it was within acceptable limits, no one noted the readings. All six cylinders registered about the same at the time this was done (2010). No, we did not do an oil pressure check. The soft top is not vinyl, but fabric (Black). It was ordered from England in 2010. Currently, it is on the car, and looks excellent. You will see this in the video. On Saturday morning, when we started the engine, the front carburetor decided to blow out the needle valve assembly. Needless to say, after we cleaned up about a gallon of gasoline, we ordered the replacement parts. The car can not be driven until the repair is completed. We expect this to happen on Wednesday. As you can imagine, this is the dread of anyone selling a vehicle. Fortunately, it is an inexpensive repair. Thank you all for your patience. Stay tuned for further developments. On Feb-01-12 at 00:17:51 PST, seller added the following information: Due to technical difficulties, we are unable to load the video. This is unfortunate as we were relying on this to cover the condition of the undercarriage, interior floor pans, trunk pan, and general condition of the body panels. We will keep trying, but may not succeed before the end of the auction. Our apologies to everyone waiting to view the video.
